But nothing that i would be interested in adding to the mod or that could just be done easily via ini editing.
I had my reasons back then to make it the way it is now, which i honestly do not remember offhand right now. Some post sfurther down i wrote:
"I briefly experimented with using current Will instead of maximum Will for this instead, but didn't like it. There were also some technical difficulties that i didn't want to spend the whole weekend on solving^^"
So ... uuuh.. i guess that's all i have :D
Sorry, i do not really use this mod myself anymore and didn't even think about it since February.
Thanks for making this mod 😊
Any class using these abilities would be affected.
Also, would this apply to any class using psi abilities, or just the abilities themselves? For instance, would this affect the Gifted class, from Psi Rookies, or soldiers that gain psi abilities from the Psi Overhaul mod?
In the end, i decided to keep it simple.
keep up with their will losses through out the mission. After the mission is over type in the console
setsoldierstat estat_will X "soldier name"
where X is the psi ops starting will - any will losses throughout the mission.
If this makes the soldiers will ever hit 67% then i don't use them till their will restores which would happen anyways upon becoming untired.
They can't ever get shaken this way but that is the best I have found
but that would make the focus PC useless again
I don't think there's a way around it, at least not one i am currently seeing.
I briefly experimented with using current Will instead of maximum Will for this instead, but didn't like it. There were also some technical difficulties that i didn't want to spend the whole weekend on solving^^
Good point on the Focus PCSs, i didn't even have those in mind. Those could be really good on a Psi Op with this mod installed.
oh jesus...
The only perk of these used by Priests is Stasis, which takes away 5 will by my default settings. Even the tier 1 version of them has 60 Will.
Avatars use NullLance, which eats up 15 will, but they also come with 160 Will... so yeah. Non-issue.
Speaking of Avatars, it should be noted that Commander's Avatar in the final mission comes with his own version of Rift and Dominate, which are both also not affected by this mod. Seems fair to me.
It no longer depends on the vanilla psi amps, which increases the compatibility with other mods considerably.
Also, in the WillAsMana.ini, you can now change the will cost and threshold for all affected psi perks individually, instead of grouped in minor/medium/major as before. See the updated preview pic.
As a additional change, Domination is no longer limited to 1 charge. With Domination using a chunk of Will on each use, that limitation is no longer necessary.
A little sidenote: This update moves the source of the will loss from the psi amp to the ability itself. While this means that it no longer requires the psi amp to be present to work, it does have one ... interesting ... sideeffect: It will apply to enemies using these abilities. I guess this could be interpreted as a barely noticable nerf to Priests and maybe more relevant nerf to Avatars.
That mod allows you to use Psi without Psi Amps. As noted in the description, this mod doesn't work without the vanilla psi amps, so that mod is not compatible.
@panagi:
The same goes for that mod. No vanilla psi amps, not compatible right now.
Judging by its description, it should work with Will As Mana, but i didn't try it myself.
As mentioned in the reply right under your question, this mod doesn't change anything about the mechanics of vanilla Psi Ops.
No changes to the core mechanics of the Psi Op. It's just a small mod and i want to keep it at that.
Cooldowns are already ini adjustable in vanilla. Check out the XComGameDama_SoldierSkills.ini.
@Teran:
Other will mechanics are unchanged. So yes, your Psi Op also tires. Will As Mana straight up reduces the max Will, though. So Psi Ops aren't affected by those vanilla reductions very much.
As for compatibility, check the description. As long as they still use vanilla psi amps and perks, it is compatible. I don't know if that is the case for Psi Rookies.
The concept of converting willpower in a mana pool for Psi abilities is neat but seems like a needlessly big nerf for Psi if there's not some manner of compensation. I'd like to have my Psi abilities cost will but have reduced cooldowns to balance it.
Personally I've always found the vanilla PsiOps unappealing due to the opportunity cost of having to build the Psi chamber in the strategic layer, combined with the non-standard training method that pretty much makes taking them on missions pointless until they're maxed out.
I am currently shopping around myself. Not really sure if i want to recommend something, a good part of why i even made this mod is because i will likely end up doing something of my own again.
@Lux:
A Better Campaign PLUS, from my Workshop is what you are looking for.
@JM:
Depends on if they made new psi amps or if they changed the vanilla ones. If they changed the vanilla ones, it should work. Otherwise i would need to patch in compatibility. I'll put it on my list of things to check out.
But since i already made it for myself to go in tandem with another mod that i want to do at a later point, i might as well publish it.
Enjoy, i guess :>
