i found a bug after you upgrade this weapon by weapon upgrade anvil you can not upgrade other weapons in this anvil. If drop Vanguard's Pride and use upgrade weapon anvil again it works

Can I ask something? I know that this is unlikely to happen but can you maybe make it so the spinning animation (after using the blade barrage or cancelling it) does damage?

@Albion: By nature of the upgrade which adds custom parameters that modified the weapon's behaviour (swoosh color changed from blue to red, daggers become explosive), the upgraded variant breaks the upgrade anvil. As such you should drop the weapon or store it in a different container before using the anvil.

@Wonderwaffle: hard to say what's going on, it could be your computer is old or the amount of mods you're using, either way i'll need your logs file to be sure. I'll look into it.

you need to patch this weapon. for some odd reason this weapon makes it so i can no longer upgrade other weapons using the anvil, completely locking me out.

For some strange reason, i cant spawn in the Weapon, although im in singleplayer admin mode using the command "/spawnitem vanguardblade". Any solutions to this?

Json is limiting because it's a markup script that doesn't do anything on its own, the logic of a weapon is determined by the lua script, and the json file only acts as a configuration template telling the lua file what to do.

Yknow what i think would make an interesting weapon? A weapon thats completely luck/RNG based. To be specific, a weapon that can do literally anything when you use it, whether it be magic, melee attacks, absolutely nothing, buffs, debuffs, etc.

I essentially just want weapon use time to be faster.
For example - "Solarus: The Novakid Energy Sword" working with "Faster Swords"

I wanted to get a randomly-generated sword with trail dash, as it has a quick use time.

This guide is a work in progress from when i was still interested in starbound modding.

While it doesn't touch anything related to lua, a scripting language, it's a good starting point. You won't make crazy things like what Nebulox is doing but at least it's a start.

make a bunch of sprites as the weapon parts, then make an activeitem file, then link the activeitem file with another script file that will call up the sprites randomly, bam you got an RNG weapon

The combo is fine, but if you were to enable auto-swing (i.e. hold down mouse 1 button), you constantly jab rather than swing. I dunno, kinda confuses me?

It's first attack is a jab, like a shortsword, but the attacks following the first swing like a broadsword.
