Thanks so much for the clarification! the puzzle hurt my brain but the mapping is stellar, good luck with desolation.

It's not AI Cave Johnson, they're lines from the Great JK Simmons himself. They're just from Lego Dimensions. Probably should have added that to the description.

This might be my favorite Portal 2 workshop map. The puzzle is satisfying, the secret area is fun to explore, and the whole thing looks beautiful, plus there's an unexpected ending. Great job all around!
Portal2Player 29 Apr, 2024 @ 2:17pm
I'm exited for whenever it comes out, presumably within the next 5 years!
MisterLambda  [author] 29 Apr, 2024 @ 1:56pm
Thank you Portal "Portal2Player" Player, you are very kind. I did pour my heart and soul into this map so I am glad people are still enjoying it so many years later. - Still feels like not so long ago.
Keep an eye out for Portal 2: Desolation when that comes out, that's where my mapping goes to these days.
Portal2Player 27 Apr, 2024 @ 5:37pm
I think this is one of if not the best looking hammer maps I've ever played. Even the ending bit, which just made me confused and had me going "ok? sure?"

i found the potato almost instantly

Thank you for your words Fasterman, glad you liked the exploratory area. I have always been fond of the idea of you being able to break out of the intended bounds and just walk aimlessly in a random direction. Over-detailing unreachable areas is sort of extension to that since I want to give the impression even those places you cant reach are real in a sense. But of course that can lead to player confusion. Especially when using white walls, they look so good visually but you can barely use them because you have to keep puzzle integrity. This time I just decided to cheat by keeping the visuals but just have them be unportalable, So a valid critique. Good luck on solving Demon's puzzle! It's tricky but really satisfying once you get it.

As always, amazing map! I haven't beat it yet, but I did love the secret areas included! My only slight gripe is that there are quite a few areas that look like they would be accessible due to how they are decorated but are not (such as the area at the top of the sphere with non-functioning portable walls). Still a great map!

Thank you so much fellas, appreciate your kind words and I am very happy you people are thoroughly enjoying this map even after such a long time.

@jp If you like this matchup do keep an eye out for Desolation, both Demon and I plus many other very talented people are working on it. :)

But this map is definitely worth it, therefore both from me too
I already knew the Original by Demon, but in this version it is of course also fun to browse around everywhere :steamhappy::steammocking:

Still one of the best map ever !!!
The Hammer work is absolutely incredible...
The amount of details everywhere is just fantastic...

After playing that perfect puzzle, I spent 1 hour to visit every place possible; and another hour in noclip for the rest :)
Demon + Lambda => The Winning Team ! Thank you guys for this wonder.
Favorited & awarded :)

I'm so enamoured by how pretty it is, but I think I'm missing something. I noticed the area behind the runway and I know that there's a portal surface there, but I can't find a way of getting to it, or what it's for. I think I have to make a runway leading up to the button that opens the exit, but I think it's impossible.
I really am stuck and I have no clue how to progress

Man, I don't even know where to start, I love so much about this. This was an amazing puzzle to solve, really fun, I just love the level design in the BTS area, how you first go under the reception and then after the elevator puzzle you can peek into that area through destroyed sealing, and after all of that you finally go there. The ending was really unexpected but it was a welcome one. Thanks for creating this, I will have alot to learn from this.

Hey man, wow, thank you so much for your amazing and kind words, sorry to have seen it only this late, for some reason I never get notifications from here anymore. It really warms my heart knowing that there are people like you who appreciates all the weird little minute details and brush work haha. It's what I map for. I absolutely reciprocate the feeling you have in regards to working together as well. Most honorary! Really looking forward to what the future has in store in that department! :p2cube:

Now as for this goddamn friggin puzzle, DemonArisen I have no clue how one even comes up with such a thing. I am honest when I say this is the best gel puzzle I have ever played, and I am proud to say I have played a good chunk. The difficulty is somewhat on the harder side but in such a well constructed way, the difficulty comes from having to step back and look at allllll of the tools you have at your disposal. Back and forth motion is the core of this puzzle and it truly is wonderfully crafted, I could never. Keep up the great work as well, a true craftsmen of a rather unique and narrowly known art.

(1/1 Played this again looking for some inspiration and motivation, and man was I absolutely fulfilled. This map is just such a wonder, I really had so many moments of "wow, a real person sat down and made all of this" after looking at every tiny detail. Your manipulation of bsp brushes is simply phenomenal, and some may even call it cursed, a lot of those smaller things you construct some chumps would rather take up and make as an actual model. Lighting is just so undeniably tasteful and carefully worked just to put everything together the other amazing prop usage and texturing at the heart of it all.
totes amaze balls 23 Sep, 2020 @ 6:29pm
(2/2 I swear I could just keep repeating myself at how well you as a single being have manipulated the source engine, so I digress with saying it is just downright amazing. However, there is another item to address, and that is your pure sense of wonder and humor. I laughed aloud at the "do not lean on railing" gimmick you constructed, and the entire SCP rift break at the end is just so meticulously done it is so hard to not just smile. Keep up the fantastic work man, it is an honor to be working along side you.

Phew, I'm just glad the map's not dead. I don't remember it that well, but I do remember it being something special.
MisterLambda  [author] 1 Sep, 2020 @ 1:36pm
Thank you! Progress has undeniably been obscenely sluggish due to all the other large projects I’ve been working on, but it’s probably about time I wrap it up. The map is almost two years old now haha.

Fantastic puzzle and detail! I eagerly await the workshop release of "Spotless"!

So... How many "items" where there? I know from the back of my head that the limit is 2000 for portal 2, Is this true?
MisterLambda  [author] 19 Aug, 2019 @ 1:50pm
It is from Lego Dimensions, my other map Divergence uses a few GLaDOS lines from that game as well.
Blue 19 Aug, 2019 @ 9:07am
where did you get the Cave johnson quote at the beginning? i swear i've never heard it before but it sounds familiar. It sounds like a newer J.K simmons recording somehow but idk why. Seriosuly want to know.
Hellraiser 12 Aug, 2019 @ 4:33pm
Very interesting! Perhaps if I had seen the GLaDOS sequence I would've been less confused by that. Nonetheless a very amazing piece of work still.
MisterLambda  [author] 12 Aug, 2019 @ 2:48pm
Oh and the facility is not actually meant to be physically under old aperture, think of it more as the elevator tube malfunctioned and tears a dimensional rift through space. In fact if the sequence hadn't glitched out you would have seen glados short circuiting as she screams in confusion about what the hell is going on :P

But anyway thank you so much for your kind words and for playing.
MisterLambda  [author] 12 Aug, 2019 @ 2:43pm
Hellraiser thank you so much for your detailed comment, I very much enjoyed reading through it, I do apologize for my late reply, for some reason I didn't get any steam notifications so just saw it for the first time as of now.

SCP, which is what the ending was based on, is a sort of writing site where people write entries of different kinds of anomalous objects in a sort of secret government research organization deep-analysis document format describing the nature of said objects. This facility which is called the SCP Foundation, is the facilty you find yourself in at the end, and the Slender looking guy is mearly of these anomolous objects, specifically SCP-106. The tar you find yourself is a property of SCP-106, you fell into its so called 'pocket dimension' when you walked over it.

Here is his page if you want to read up on him http://www.scp-wiki.net/scp-106
