This is a "if you like this, you might like that" post and I hope aRPeaR doesn't mind. :)

After seeing this I created my own version of a tracking solar array. Thanks aRPeaR for the great idea and technical concept!

So, this is my interpretation; same general technique, different design:

i placed it and it didnt anchor proporly and it crashed my game because it started glitching out and flying around

Briliant!

The solar dish is rotated by hoverpads, each group of hoverpads has its own solar panel group positioned at a specific angle, 2 hoverpad groups are faced opposite of each other, so that they cancel each other out when they are both powered.

Looks like fantastic PN invention! aRPeaR, can You describe, how does it work? What is the sun tracking mechanism?

Sadly, mine got constructed upside-down, so tumbled off the hill I constructed it on and went "splash" into the antarctic ocean. Well more like "sp....la....aa...shhh" because of the lag :steamsad:

Wow, this works very well with 100% and long after sun goes down. Very very effective building.

nice :steamsalty:

Thanks, I believe i had 72 autominers at the precise centered arctic base.
But it became laggy when i was building my tower ther, i got winter depressed, so i left that project.

This is ridiculous, over the top, and amazingly effective.. The power production can only be described as extreme. The utility factor is amazing, and the cost is exorbanant but doable. I need to blueprint a battery array to go with this but one powers even my most energy intensive mining operartion (Piles of mines in the polar region gathering trace materials so I can have an outpost that produces everything)

Stuff like this amazes me. I haven't played survival in a long time so I have no idea how solar panels work. All I knew was that they follow the suns trajectory, so I'm trying to make sense of the need for the hover pads. I will be looking at the BP later. Very nice!

that will be handy for my space tower,

Of course it works, otherwise it would not be tracking :steamhappy:
The only thing that happens because of the game is that it will freeze when your character gets out of range. It can potentially get stuck at a perfect 90 degree angle, because of the hitbox of the hoverblades. Just turn off the blue or yellow switchboard and it starts turning again.

Im actually wondering myself..,

Does this work or is it an object?

Cool! Thanks for sharing! :steamhappy:
