in the reallife picture the train looks really old.... ingame they look a little industrial-future-style or post apocalyptic future like fallout

I'm mostly trying to be faithful to the trains, so I don't think I can do that for you, sorry. the charm of the K sets is being clunky tin cans - they are basically unpainted metal except those coloured spots.
