Chances are, that's a problem either with other mods, or with changes to either Skyrim or the respective editor. Either way, these mods are no longer supported. I'm leaving them up since they do work for most people (myself included), but I don't have time to continue to update them to counter issues with the software being brought on by new patches. =\

Assuming it works, there's another mod that won't even require robes to get the same effect. I think I just named it something like Free Spellcasting. It might be easier to work with, but it also might not work for you, depending on whatever is causing trouble.

im having the same problem as Happymallow. I put it on and the cost reduction doesn't work. how do you fix this

@SwiftFire1002 The robes are just a way to remove the cost of spell casting. Admittedly it would make the robes from the College of Winterhold obsolete. Really it comes down to whether you want to not have to use mana to cast spells, or to go with the original game design. As an alternative, you could disenchant these robes and put the enchantment on another item. There's also another mod I made that is a ring that gives super fast magicka regen. It's not quite as powerful, and it would be a ring instead of robes. If you would prefer, you could use that and still wear the robes of the archmage from the College of Winterhold quest line.

would it be better if i completed the college of winterhold questline before i use these? for depth?

@tully125 The Destruction magic school will have its power based on your soul gem. If you are just starting out, you should still get full cost reduction (100% or greater) with a grand soul, which you can usually purchase from most of the Jarl's wizards, including the one in Whiterun. Sometimes there aren't any available, and the price is usually a little over a thousand gold. By higher levels, I have been able to use even common souls while still getting full power. If you would prefer to soul trap for yourself, mammoths are a reliable source grand souls, but they and their herders (the giants) are usually pretty tough for lower level characters.

When I disenchanted and put it on my own armor for my battle mage it worked for all schools of magic except Destruction which was only 17% reduction of spell cost instead of 100

I'm not a big fan of god mods, but this mod is epic.
GandalfTheGray 25 May, 2012 @ 4:19am
quite powerful you say? 100% less coast means you can cast everything, and magicka become meaningless. The robe itself is easy to get, i see no reason to make this. This mod makes overpowered. Make it 50%, and it will be still fun...

Best not to subscribe before you get out of Helgen Keep-it seriously f**ked up the area and I couldn't get out

With high enough Alteration, you can be just as well armored with robes as with deadric armor.
Without the infinite bufs mods, you just have to plan in advance though. If you get caught unbuffed by a draugrh deathlord, you'll die fast
KruhlSentru  [author] 11 Mar, 2012 @ 2:54pm
If you get the right perks from the alteration tree, you can as much as triple the benefit to your armor rating by wearing only cloth armor. Since that's sort of the "default" armor for mages, that's why I made the enchantment on robes. That, and because I already used an amulet and a ring for two other mods I've made lol.

Robes itself are worthless, but after disenchanting their effect appeared to be immune to a mysterious bug my computer suffers (I can`t put fortify [magic school] effect on anything) That`s what I add it to favorites for.

@lordpooky Which location are you looking in? The one in the Riverwood Trader is upstairs on top of a chest, and the one in Helgen Keep is near a dead rebel on the ground (also near some hay if I remember right).

Same problem. :(
✪ mr poopy butthole 6 Mar, 2012 @ 12:19am
When I disenchant it, it won't let me enchant it on any other items.
