TBH I think the material override/skin changing script is semi-impractical for models that have this progress texture change. I would recommend for practicality reasons to create two models, one that acts as the texture with alphas to hide the other model. This is a plane with the yellow texture where the slits are present, which in your case, would be that yellow texture with the blue and no light replaced with an alpha. You can also do it my way, which is bruteforce that yellow mesh with medium to high poly slits to minimize compression.

The second model is simply an unlitgeneric blue light texture. With proper rigging and orientation, and using good model use, this can be a very powerful tool in realtime.

Great enhancement nonetheless.
