ah.. okay. I only recently got a steam deck so i'm still trying to figure out how to edit files outside of the game. Not feeling that brave with it yet. Thanks for keeping your mod updated though, 3 choices is better than 0!
shiremct  [ophavsmand] 16. okt. kl. 15:19
Yea, sorry, I never got around to figuring out setting up MCM, so it's .ini edit only. Maybe one day.
Dragon32 16. okt. kl. 6:43
@Commander Link
It's .ini edit only
Commander Link 15. okt. kl. 19:42
hey commander. Commanders choice is BROKEN right now, and your mod is the only one available. is it possible to edit this mod to use ingame mod configuration menu to be able to pick how many options will be available? or is that already the case?
Dragon32 15. okt. kl. 16:45
@Seven
OK, cool.
Seven 15. okt. kl. 13:37
@Dragon32, I actually figured it out not too long after I posted my comment. I didn't realize that a mod I had added put two new classes into my class pool that I had to disable. It works fine. I just overlooked the option. :) Thanks!
Dragon32 15. okt. kl. 12:43
@Seven
Which mod are you using?
Added support for Rusty's Disable Any Class GTS Redux. Removed support for original version of Disable Any Class (didn't work consistently anyway).
Seven 15. okt. kl. 11:52
So, out of curiosity, is there a way to set it up so that the classes the mod gives mirror the ones I have selected in the "Disable all classes" mod? For some reason on the class selection screen the mod shows up with disabled classes such as Gunner when I have it turned off because I have a variant that works better for my campaign.

Okay, so i'm having a strange problem if anyone is able to help. I have the mod installed and i've used it in game so i know it's installed on my PC. However, I cannot find it in my files with my other Xcom mods in order to change the amount of classes available. Anyone know what's going on?
Vorpal Spoon 25. aug. kl. 7:41
@Dr3XyL-Literally the very last paragraph of the mod description, under "Version History"...
Dr3XyL 25. aug. kl. 4:59
LWOTC compatible?
Vorpal Spoon 21. aug. kl. 19:29
@shiremct-Thank you for this. I realized after experimenting with it that was probably the case. I do love what your mod does, but I spent an entire day making chars with all the skins that this playthrough will be w/o it since I have an all ME Crew! I hold off after this one to use it and use your advice! Thanks for the step by step.:steamsunny::CheersAle::stein::cubeglasses:
Vorpal Spoon 21. aug. kl. 19:25
@Rusty-I like your mods, thanks for the hard work! I did use that but it would not hold there class ever. Once I removed this mod, that mod work with I'm the Com mod. I don't use the AML so that may be a factor. When a play a cannon fodder playthough, I will be issuing this one for sure.
shiremct  [ophavsmand] 21. aug. kl. 15:23
You should not need to run with the Use My Class mod, there is a config variable (default is true) that will use the unit's class from your character pool, if available. Use My Class will cover the other cases (reward soldier, etc.) where you don't promote from rookies.

I looked at the Super Soldiers Restored mod and all of the classes have NumInForcedDeck=0 and NumInDeck=0, meaning they are not available to promote into. Looks like those classes are setup to only appear as reward soldiers. If you want them available for normal promotions, NumInDeck must be > 0 in that mod's XComClassData.ini file.
RustyDios 21. aug. kl. 13:38
If you use this mod with the Use My Class mod, the first option offered will always be what the character has set in the character pool
Vorpal Spoon 21. aug. kl. 12:09
P.S.-I still liked it and gave it a thumbs up. It's a good mod even if it robs your custom characters of a unique class!
Vorpal Spoon 21. aug. kl. 12:07
PSA- If you create custom soldiers with class mods, and place the in the Character Pool, this mod will prevent that custom character from having his assigned class.

Also, it seems to generate the same group of classes from your list while always excluding others. And/or it doesn't recognize the scripts of some custom classes.

For example, it will not recognize any of the classes with Super Soldiers Redux mod, Sky&Land Fury, although it did pull from others unique class mods (Psi-Priest, Blitz, Stormchaser). And yes, I went into the file and changed the variables and rng, no dice.

TLDR : Mod works as intended, but it will remove any assigned class to a custom character or mod character in your Character Pool. It also will not access some unique class mods. You've been warned.
Argila's Requiem 18. aug. kl. 17:28
ignore previous message. i edited the file through the alternative mod launcher/ opener and it worked, i did make a new play though. and on the 3rd time starting a new game, closing and reopening everything. did it work.
Argila's Requiem 18. aug. kl. 17:21
so i started a play though today. an i edited the file 1467643380 and changed the 3 to a 7. and i still get only 3 classes to show up. i looked through the comments and tried to follow what others thought might be the problem and it still hasn't worked yet.

If anyone figures it out. because i surely ain't about to, Lmk
gravyjones 31. juli kl. 11:32
@zcomegys - Commander's Choice works. i've just started using it this past weekend in combination with this mod (sometimes i want a specific class based on rookie stats)
zcomegys 20. juli kl. 14:11
Commanders Choice does not work. Is there anyway to change this mod to act like Commanders Choice?
RustyDios 16. juli kl. 13:55
well, the default is 3.. so this suggests you have another mod altering the config already
jonexhd 16. juli kl. 13:52
Strange. I changed the choices to 10 and still the game give me just 2. Is it a LWOTC issue?
3D Master 6. maj kl. 3:49
GAAH! It was a mod that disabled the standard classes; doesn't say anything about doing so in the description though.
Dragon32 5. maj kl. 15:49
@3D Master
This isn't my mod.
3D Master 5. maj kl. 13:19
I don't think I've got any class mods that disabled the basic classes; because I remember several base class mods showing up before I installed your mod.

Also, didn't you write that the mod would put the class set in the character pool, along with two random ones? Well, I just promoted three rookies to squaddie; two of them were set as rangers and the third samurai; yet none of them were given these classes as options in the promotion screen.
Dragon32 4. maj kl. 11:38
@3D Master
Some class mods will disable the base game classes, maybe that's happened to you?

Also weird RNG and XCOM 2 kinda go hand in hand.
3D Master 4. maj kl. 9:14
I have picked classes with this mod now for about 8 soldiers, the one class I installed this mod for: "specialist" has yet to show up as an option. (In fact, it has yet to show me any of the vanilla classes, only modded in classes). How come? How is it possible that this game, even with your mod in about 7 or 8 campaigns now early game, doesn't give me a bloody specialist. Arguably the most important early game class; so you can remote hack things that have a timer on it.
Nephyral 10. apr. kl. 0:33
I am using 585 Mods. Yes, a lot, but I've chosen them very carefully. I can assure with 99,9 %, that no other of these mods tweak the number of choices as a "hidden feature". I went through all mods again, and don't see any relevant for this issue. The mods, that have something to do with promotions are:
amalgamation promotion assistant
Community promotion screen
[Wotc] Stats on new promotion screen

I also use Xylth's GTS (WotC). Can this interfere with the promotions? The number of choices there is also set to 5 (identical to promotions).

Other than that, I don't see any conflicting mods. AML also does not show any conflicts.
RustyDios 9. apr. kl. 18:58
Are you using another "tweaks" mod that may also be setting the number of choices ?
Nephyral 9. apr. kl. 15:30
@dragon32
Luckily I am still at the very beginning of my campaign, so it was no big issue to start over again. Unfortunately both of your suggestions did not fix the problem. Still only three choices. Thats in fact an issue, with almost all almaganation classes in play. Some more choices would be nice. I used this mod in several campaigns, without problems until now.
Dragon32 9. apr. kl. 12:00
@Nephyral
Try clearing your user config. files, or maybe it needs a new campaign.
Nephyral 9. apr. kl. 9:12
Changing XcomChooseMyClass.ini to "NumClassChoices = 5" still gives me only 3 choices. Any idea what I am doing wrong?
light_perseveran.ttv 9. feb. kl. 21:48
I have encountered a bug while using the mod. When I go to pick my class, the menu is empty.
fritzdis 2. dec. 2024 kl. 15:35
Any chance it would be feasible to allow NumInDeck overrides via config here? Especially if it were possible with substring/regex matching, that could make it possible to weight Amalgamation specs.
Dragon32 24. nov. 2024 kl. 4:31
@bashkimo
Just open the .ini and read it, it's pretty obvious
bashkimo 24. nov. 2024 kl. 1:33
How to increase choices to 5. I mean which line in config.ini
Tx in advance
Nitsah 22. okt. 2024 kl. 13:56
Really great mod when you have pretty much 100+ classes. Makes every run different if you set yourself with rules such as I only check the first 5 for unique roster. Kind of like an rpg if you will.
Dragon32 12. okt. 2024 kl. 12:41
@StickyBackPlastic
I don't really follow but you can't just add values into .ini or .int files and expect the game to understand what to do with them.
StickyBackPlastic 12. okt. 2024 kl. 12:13
So I tried to piggy back mod using this mod with regards to keeping the original Armory Promote Rookie button active in via the INI file, but adding in lines to the Localization file XcomGame.int:

[UIArmory_MainMenu]
m_strPromote=WHATEVER WHATEVER eg

naively hoping it would take effect - but it didn't. Was hoping somebody could shed some light on this to highlight my idiocy.
【 SanCHEz 】 24. sep. 2024 kl. 1:58
This is heavily based on Commander's Choice and has many of the same minor issues (using the arrow keys on a class' ability tree to navigate to a promotable rookie will promote them randomly like the base game, etc.).

In the latest version of "Commander's Choice" you can disable these keys in the config. If such a function is implemented in this mod, many will be happy.
Mr. Hotdog 22. sep. 2024 kl. 12:51
Figured it out! It was an INI issue w/Amalgamation.
Mr. Hotdog 15. sep. 2024 kl. 9:10
I just started a new campaign, and no classes are showing up for promotion. I am using Amalgamation classes, but the rank-up screen is blank. Any advice? Thanks! This worked in my previous campaign from July.
PorkChopsFam 4. sep. 2024 kl. 12:50
hey man, im trying to use this mod in LWOTC whilst also running amalgamation classes; ive set the .ini file to supposedly show 5 classes but it doesnt do this, its shows me only a choice of 2 classes :')
Vaultwulf 22. juli 2024 kl. 2:15
@Shiremct Thank you for the super fast update! :steamthumbsup: :steamthis:
Dragon32 9. juli 2024 kl. 5:41
@Mr Nobody
That's not what random means.
Mr Nobody 8. juli 2024 kl. 22:24
so basically ther assesd during combat and how they preform dictates the jobs they can do
RustyDios 23. apr. 2024 kl. 13:31
@Alucard : testing it out says yes

@Egir : if you change the .ini it should take effect the next time you play the game

@Krimi : Afaik, this only allows you to promote into classes that any normal soldier could. Therefore you wouldn't be able to have the Hero Classes as part of the selection, unless the base rookie was also of the hero character type, and so far far all rookies are not of this character type.
