Sadly with each release of the Beta, the Devs seem to change the way ores are spawned more and more, almost seems in an effort to prevent this kind of mod.
For the newer planets ores are spawned as part of the planet, rather than as part of the mineables, so for default worlds unless I override the world itself, which keeps changing, I cannot do it for default.
For now, if you want to use this, you can spawn a new custom planet, and as the Mineables, set "Very Easy Ores"
I'll have a better look in the new year as to what it going on, but at the moment, not totally sure.
It was just between two odd patches
**So for a week or so (the update before yesterdays) you couldn't override the default mineables
so if you created a new world since the 17th with this mod it won't work sadly. The method @Camularity describes to modify your save will work.
If your save is from before that then you should be fine!

Turns out you can no longer add additional options to the mineables list, if you even add a copy of an existing one it returns the IndexOutOfRangeException. Awesome.
So for now we are back to overriding the defaults as I can do that now! So trade one bug for another!
To make this work you MUST now change the order so Very Easy Ores is BELOW the core mod.
Then leave the mineables as default and you're off.
Now I wanted new run, set the same setting and I got "IndexOutOfRangeException" error every time I am creating new custom world ... :( (I have only this mod enabled)
I can define a different set, but the default one I cannot change.
The method @Camularity describes will work for now.
I will have another look at this, but already spent a good few hours to no avail.
I did try it as "Normal" but you just end up with two Normals in the list to choose from.

You will see MaxVeinAttempts and MinVeinAttempts for each ore if you set them to a more sensible number other than 2000 it will calm the whole ore spam down a lot.
To give you an idea, the defaults are somewhere around the 50-100 range, or even less for the rare ores.
is there a way to turn it down some? i like the added ores, but i dont want to have them every square of my map.
Looks like the problem was on my end however, as Steam had decided, for reasons unknown, not to actually update the mod. Unsubscribing and resubscribing got it to download the updated code, and now cobalt is working just fine, I'm standing on a giant pile of it :)
I've only really fully supported the beta branch up to now. I'll look at temporarily creating a separate mod for the stable branch.
although if you're not on the beta branch, you're missing out on all the latest cool stuff!
Also are all ores equally common, or are they still found in the same amount relative to each other?
But any map started looks like this https://gyazo.com/09dbe95bdd4144d9d212a3ed6a8b955b
Fixed.
