Someone port this over please, there is no decent reskin for High Elves in Warhammer 3 (and nooo, Shields don't count, I love HV and Heraldry but that's not a reskin, that is shields).

Hello JFred, I always enjoy using the mods you upload.
However, I have one question, so I am posting this after much thought.
Among the mods uploaded by JFred, there is a mod 3 called High Elves - Reborn [Overhaul] that just won't come out no matter how long I wait. I am asking if you could personally donate some money and model the mods for your personal collection. Have a nice day..!

Sorry, this was done so long ago that I honestly can't remember how I went about it. My best guess is I used photoshop's hue/saturation tool to adjust the color and maybe some others?

@JFred, I've been getting into Warhammer asset editing and would love to help port this mod to Warhammer 3, let me know if there's anything I can do to help :)
Regardless, I've tried myself to re-create the look, but am having a bit of trouble getting the colors right through gimp. Did you have a specific process to recolor the dds files?

Glad you enjoy it, wish I had better news for you. I've been putting off HE for a while because it will be my most ambitious overhaul to date. Hopefully you'll find it worth the wait.

When you port this beauty, I think many would be happy to see the elfs losing their skirts, otherwise its the best skin overhaul out there for HE as it stands.

If you discover a good method for porting textures/rigid models over to WH3 please do share!

I put so much bloody work into my reskins for WH2 and the thought of maybe having to redo it all from scratch really sucks.

Just a heads up, I will be updating this mod and many others for immortal empires. WH3 introduced a new texturing method that is different from WH1/2 so I will be investigating how best to implement my mods for the best visual results. This may require remaking some textures from scratch and updating file references on the models. As such there is no concrete ETA, but rest assured I will be working to get them uploaded to the WH3 workshop as soon as possible.

... PFM and RPFM haven't updated their schemas for WH3 yet but I want to make a quick 200% unit size mod before I play. Do you know if there is any app or other method for opening pack file tables that I can use while waiting for (R)PFM to update?

that is a great way to do it tbh but its hell for sure. i ended up putting your mods at the top and its all fixed and your amazing textures are so good, I honestly cant play the game without them!

it may be a bit tedious if you have a lot of mods installed, but i recommend activating one at a time and launching the game to check the unit until you see the issue happen again

Sounds like a missing texture issue, maybe a conflict from a mod that changes one of the model's texture paths?

Never mind, I just discovered asset editor and used it to remove the incorrect LODs in the rigid model! Easy peasy! :D

Ooh ooh I've worked out what the problem is!! Whoever made the original faceplate model just took the normal swordmasters helmet but made all of it transparent except for the faceplate part. But for some reason when you zoom out the transparent part of the helmet pops in and becomes visible... so now I just need to work out how to delete the transparent part of the helmet.

As someone who's done 3D modelling could you suggest a simple tutorial by any chance?

For some reason when I remove any of the the imposter's from the variants_table it makes the game crash! Even if the game didn't crash though I'm not certain if this approach would have worked? From looking at the table it seems your solution works for whole unit imposters, but in my case it's just a helmet that is somehow linked to the wrong low poly model.

Thanks for taking the time to try and the help regardless though. I might try asking on TWCentre since this is turning out to be so surprisingly difficult!

ok I just checked, so what you want to do is go into the variants_table and make sure there is nothing in the "low poly file name" and "super low poly file name" tables for whatever unit you want to disable it on.

ok i had a similar issue with my recent mod, what i ended up doing was deleting the imposter from one of the db tables, can't remember which one, might have been the variants table. This will make it where if you zoom out it will still keep the same model. It might have a bit of a performance dip on low end machines though. Im not sure how to actually replace them though.

Yep that's right. I am trying to use the face plate from the "Silverin Guard Reskin & Retexture" mod, but when I zoom out on any unit using the face plate the helmet suddenly turns into a big plumed swordmasters helmet. I've read this happens because the low poly imposter model doesnt match the high poly model, but when I set a new imposter model in the varient mesh it doesnt have any effect. Thanks for the help!

honestly i'm not sure, I don't think i've dealt with imposter models before? Is it only referenced in the variantmesh definition or elsewhere? Also if you can explain to me what it's function is I might get a better idea of how I can help. Just from the name I'm assuming it might have something to do with LODs?

You were right, thanks :) ... bonus unrelated question if you don't mind... I have been inspired by your work and am trying to do some modding myself, but having trouble with imposter models. Specifically the imposter of a helmet I'm using is totally wrong. I've tried updating "imposter_model=..." in the variant mesh definition but that doesn't have any effect. Do you know of any guides/tutorials which specifically cover how to fix imposter model issues?
