Bug should be fixed now. To prevent the circular crafting bug that was in the previous version, I just made a duplicate version of Petty and Lesser Soul Gems, and made the crafting recipes only create these duplicates for these two types. And these duplicates will not be used as ingrediants to make the dust that make gems.

Well, this is certainly embarrassing. I just discovered an unintended bug with my own mod, which is the result of this new update. I am not going to say what it is, but it's actually pretty obvious how it is exploited. Will fix ASAP.

Excellent - thank you

I applied a new update for the mod today, you can now turn all those crappy Petty and Lesser Soul Gems (as long as they are empty) in to Soul Gem Dust to count towards creating the better Soul Gems. But only the Petty and Lesser, as they turn in to the same amount of Dust that is needed to craft them.

There's a few in Fellglow Keep. And you can buy them from any court wizard (with this mod enabled of course).

I din't think I've ever run across a Soul Gem Fragment, where do you find them?
Flower Sniffer 20 Oct, 2015 @ 12:31pm
Haha, glad you took my idea into fruition! :D

Wow, it's been over 3 years since I made this mod, and I just rolled out the first update for it since Nov 2012.

Now my original justification for requiring Daedric Smithing for Black Soul Gem creation was because the gems were created via the Blacksmith Forge interface. But now that I think about it, and as LuttyNetto pointed out, it does make more sense that an enchantor would know more how Black Soul Gems work than Blacksmiths would.

Happy crafting!

Thanks for the comment! I'll take it under consideration.

Sorry, but this is bugging me a little... I can see you're set on the idea of having daedric smithing... But daedric hearts to make black soul gems are tough enough, I believe. And not all enchanters would be using smithing. Maybe at least have a secondary addon that changes the perk to one of the enchanting perks?
Koneko 11 Jan, 2014 @ 7:28pm
oh, ok well... i didnt have deadric at the time but now i do so ill check.
Seph64  [author] 11 Jan, 2014 @ 7:02pm
Wait, I think it requires Daedric smithing to show up? Cause it requires a Daedric Heart to make, so I might have made it so that you need Daedric Smithing to craft it.
Koneko 9 Jan, 2014 @ 2:19pm
nope! no black soul gem recipe :/
Seph64  [author] 9 Jan, 2014 @ 7:34am
Wait, what? There is a recipe to make a Black Soul Gem, at least there should be.
Koneko 3 Jan, 2014 @ 7:00pm
No black soul gem? that's a shame....
Vira Edenfell 12 Mar, 2012 @ 4:56pm
@DeetMan135 but daedra have a sort of evil power. more than humans, so maybe that's why s/he made it a daedra heart.
DeetDude 11 Mar, 2012 @ 12:15pm
Maybe change it to Human Hearts? Or Human Flesh? It makes more sense to me since Black Soul Gems absorb humanoid souls. I understand if you don't want to do it, because it's just more work for you, but Human Hearts are pretty rare themselves. Even though they are the other ingredient besides Black Soul Gems to make Daedra Hearts at the Atronach Forge, I tend to find Human Hearts about as often as I do Daedra Hearts. But then this is just a suggestion, because I buy Daedra Hearts whenever I can anyway.
Seph64  [author] 11 Mar, 2012 @ 10:39am
I'll think about it, but I don't really want to change the requirements. As I only made them craftable by request and my thinking is that something that traps the souls of humanoids shouldn't be easily craftable.

*SPOILER*

And besides, if you do the Thieves Guild questline and restore the guild to prosperity, you get access to a Alchemy vendor that sells the Reagents for the Black Soul Gem anyway (well excluding the Soul Gem Fragments).
DeetDude 10 Mar, 2012 @ 2:24pm
Could you remove Daedra Hearts as an ingredient for making Black Soul Gems? I go to the Atronoch Forge and use the Black Soul Gems to create Daedra Hearts. If I use a Daedra Heart to make a Black Soul Gem to make a Daedra Heart, there's no point to it. I realize that some people only use Black Soul Gems for enchanting, but I, as well as several others I expect, would appreciate it if you could make that fix. 3 Vampire Dusts and 2 Fire Salts also seems a bit much because of their rarity, but my main concern is with the Daedra Hearts.
Seph64  [author] 5 Mar, 2012 @ 2:47pm
Basically, except Black Soul Gems hold Humanoid (any playable race) souls as well as Grand while Grand Soul Gems can only hold up to Grand Souls that aren't humanoids.
XamaX 4 Mar, 2012 @ 2:34am
So... what exactly is the difference between a grand and black soul gem? they hold the same amount right?
Seph64  [author] 29 Feb, 2012 @ 11:04am
Any bugs? None that I am aware of, if there are any, I trust that you'll share them with me. As for future plans? I am probably going to have more vendors that will sell the Soul Gem Fragments, but which ones I am unsure of at the moment. Currently, Farengar is the only NPC I have chosen to sell the Soul Gem Fragments.
Tony Gabagool 28 Feb, 2012 @ 8:12pm
looks great! any bugs, or future plans?
Seph64  [author] 27 Feb, 2012 @ 1:06pm
I was thinking about that and if whether I should or not. Black Soul Gems are obviously Grand Soul Gems, except they can hold Black Souls.
Admiral Clover 27 Feb, 2012 @ 8:51am
so any future ideas for crafting black soulgems maybe add void salt or vampire dust to the mix?
Seph64  [author] 27 Feb, 2012 @ 5:47am
Thanks for the tip, I can not believe I didn't think of that. :O
A__Gun 27 Feb, 2012 @ 4:38am
Hi Seph. There is no way to consolidate the recipes, but I'm guessing the reason you want to do that is so that 'Soul Gem Dust' doesn't appear 5 times at the forge right? What you could do, is put a condition on the recipes such that they only appear to the player if they have the relevant soul gem fragment in their inventory. This is how Bethesda hides the leather recipes for pelts you don't currently have.
Babycakes 26 Feb, 2012 @ 10:17pm
Oh ok thank you. Downloaded.
Seph64  [author] 26 Feb, 2012 @ 10:12pm
Just a Black Smith's Forge, under Misc (it will be beneath Jewelry).
Seph64  [author] 26 Feb, 2012 @ 9:16pm
What was Changed? Nothing, except I removed the UI tag, as I don't know why I put it there.
