"I noticed that the companion cube that comes with Portal 2 content pack doesn't have the hearts on the sides"
That's because you are using the companion cube model from the Perpetual Testing Initiative DLC ("portal2_dlc2").

The ACTUAL companion cube model can be found in the "portal2" mod directory as "props\metal_box.mdl". The model viewport shows it as a normal cube, but ito turn it into a companion cube put the model into your scene, right-click on "metal_box" (in the Animation Set Editor), hover your mouse over "Set Skin" then select "1".
The model also includes other skins, such as an "activated" companion cube skin (the skin used when the box is put onto a button) as well as versions of the normal cube/companion cube covered in (Blue) Repulsion/(Orange) Propulsion Gel. Again, you can switch between these skins by right-clicking the model in the Animation Set Editor, hovering your mouse over "Set Skin" then selecting a number.

Hope this helps.

Huh I'll have to look that last one up but yeah I guess. There are the weighted cubes with the portal 2 content though

@Jelli
like a weighted cube (the blue ones), and their yellow version (which appears when you put the cube onto a button), and the ones that has dust and stuff on them
