Ok, it had something to do with the new dip actions and the technology group exceptions. Maybe because ottoman group? idk. Hope that helps someone.

This wasn't working for me. In the diplomatic action files I deleted everything about Protectorate =
and changed the allowed and visible sections on the top. I'm not much of a modder, so I can't tell you what wasn't working. But if anyone is also having it not showing up under influence actions.

It seems actually a good cheat on vassalization - one doesn't meet requirements to get a chosen nation as a vassal but can get it nearly anytime as a protectorate... Then after 1 month one can break that protectorate and what you are left is, is a vassal that you got without meeting requirements for vassalage ;) But works only with nations that don't belong to western sphere ... I suppose.

Not sure what you meant by waiting 10 years after breaking protectorate - the only timescale now is the usual 25 years before one can annex their vassal. And i suppose this time they need to like me very much - 25 years to improve my relations ;)

@Her Majesty The Queen-Empress - Its really simple to make that edit yourself. Just open up common/Subject_types/00_subject_types in your eu4 folder. Scroll down till you see march and copy this in "takes_diplo_slot = no" It can go almost anywhere but if you have no modding experience i recomend adding it just under "can_be_annexed = no". that way you have no chance of it going wrong

Gm_kaiser. Its an intended feature. It would have been OP to allow protectorates to be vassalised due to them having no dip cost and low relative strength to their overlord. So i added this feature for those who did want to intergrate them. So they first have to revoke protectorate (same way for marchs in vanillia) and wait for the standard 10 year period, and overcome a small malus for revoking the protectorate status.

I have a situation where if you cancell a protectorate, the nation becomes your vassal instead. I'm assuming this is a bug?

Either create a subject that works like a trade company and or colony (anywhere) so that we are able to make colonies in areas where they should be cough asia, eurom north africa cough

I was just thinking protctorates should be brought back, but functioning more like tributaries and restricted to Western, maybe Eastern tech. Great minds think alike, I guess. Thank you for making this!

I beleive in modern english it now should use the pronoun it/they. Her/she is seen as old,quaint or only used in poetic settings. Didnt even notice i used "his"

They acts very differently than the old protectorates. So if i did that people would most likely complain that its different than they used to be. Also if i remember correctly the old protectorares were mostly hated so i think less people would give it a chance

@davidkensai Hey I was playing around with your mod trying to get it working within a zip folder and I've got it working with quite a bit of a work around. I know a mod on the steam workshop by the name of Ze Great Kaiser's Cheat Menu recently changed their diplomatic actions additions and it seemed to have worked with your mod. I think either the update to 1.25.0 may have changed how diplomatic actions are added (unconfirmed but seems reasonable) and so with Ze Great Kaiser's mod he added a flag which allows his actions to become visable. After adding your diplomatic actions to the same static modifier flag it worked in a Zip folder. I can send you screenshots if you wish on how I replicated it so show you?

You have to vassalise them first. It is possible to code the file in the folder "new_diplomatic_actions" to work in the old way but this is my first mod and its a bit beyond me.

AWESOME! Thank you so much for this. Just a question: Are you required to vassalize them first? Or can you do like when they existed in vanilla an offer them to become a protectorate?
