This mod works as of February 2025. Worked great for me.

For me, it works fine when starting a game in both Single-Player and Multi-Player: it set the gold value to 35000 gold.

I haven't done any edits to the default config file, only used it out of the "+ Subscribe" box.
Additional notes: I have no other mods, but I have the DLCs.

For MacOS Ventura 13.2.1 PlayerGoldBoost.lua is in ~/Library/Application Support/Steam/steamapps/workshop/content/289070/1351957908/

first, the mod works fine. try it as your only mod, and you will see.

second, for every mod, the location on your HD is also the location in the html address of the mod's page.

so this page is https://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1351957908

that last number is the folder name on your HD 1351957908

go to wherever you installed steam, and then \SteamLibrary\steamapps\workshop\content\289070\1351957908\

the 289070 folder is for all the Civ 6 mods

steamapps\workshop\content\289070\1351957908

where is PlayerGoldBoost.lua

was anyone able to find a way to edit this mod on a macbook ios is still i little weird for me

Can you give me the acces path for .lua file to lower the amout of gold and faith.

Can confirm it works (have all expansions). I noticed certain mods wont work if you load a configuration when you Create a New Game so you'll have to make a new one from scratch

I now own both RnF and GS, Test all of my civ 6 mod there and all works fine. If this mod didnt work with you, you have a mod conflict.

Found this answer for modding the Start value of the gold (the lua pack file "PlayerGoldBoost.lua" the author mentions):

\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\289070\

I forgot the number code folder of this mod so when you're at the 289070 folder (Civ 6 mod folder location), do seach for the file name PlayerGoldBoost (It should be a lua file)
Edit it on Notepad++ or any editor and look for the line:

local PlayerGold = 35000

Change the 35k to your desire amount.

After experimenting; there is a maximum amount of gold you may edit into the LUA file. Large number including just 9mil make your starting gold go crazy. After numerous attempts, I stopped at 5.5 mi successfully.

This mod makes you start the game bankrupt. 0 Gold.

Game says this is enabled but I don't get any gold at the start.

This works at present, post NFP expac May 2021

Finally! A decent cheat mod. All I want is to buy a few settlers really early so that I can expand into my land before the stupid AI does. The gold is a bit high, but I can waste it on builders and delete them if I want.

works for me. can buy lots of slingers and clubbers for early domination victory. Probably just going to use this once, but nice mod.

poupesque: you can do it yourself if you like to. I can tell you which 1 specific thing you need to change.

The only problem is, you'll get that specific amount after 1 or 2 turns. THEN, starting EVERY TURN, you'll get that amount. so basically, infinite money.

To prevent that, after you got the money, save, then exit then disable the mod then load. :v
