dresden was the main rail uplink in germany at the time supplying the remnants of the eastern front (army groups center and south i think) so it was a millatery target and helped the war effort immensly the idea dresden was a civilian target comes from a speech made by joseph goebels after the bombing in an attempt to inspire germans to fight to last by making then think the allies would just kill them anyway i think this is the speech https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NsGHDEO7-qE . love the idea for the mod btw

Then blame Churchill for Dresden? He put the strategic bombing policy in place long before Harris took office anyway.

And it wasn't just London which was being bombed by the Germans (for longer than just 1940-41 by the way, they continued with rockets till the end of the war causing many further casualties), they bombed the completely undefended cities of Warsaw, Rotterdam and Belgrade to ashes, with hundreds of thousands of civilian casualties as result, so don't pretend it was something anly the Allies did. In contrast, for most of the war German cities were heavily defended; there is a reason Bomber Command suffered the highest rate of casualties among the British armed forces!

The point is that London was a contested city, while Dresden was just an unnecessary target. It was filled with ten-thousands of german refugees, coming from the east that fled from the russian hordes. The Bombing of Dresden was totally unimportant for the war - it was obvious that germany will lose the war, and nevertheless the british and americans continued their bombing raids against germany, only to kill civileans. There is even an quote of churchill: "I'm not interested in any military targets in the Dresden area - I'm interested in how we can roast the refugees from Wroclaw in Dresden. " And btw Dresden is just an example of this horror. The germans dropped 35,000 tons of boms on Britain from 1940/41 and killed 39,000 people, while the Allies dropped in all 1.9 million tons of bombs on germany in 6 years of war - the death count is much higher. @Jarospicy @Captured Joe
