As for the ethnicity, Andorra is similar to Catalonia, although in contrast to the rural Catalonia which surrounds the nation of Andorra, this territory is more cosmopolitan, with 38,8% of the population having Catalan as it's mother tongue, therefore making it the largest language in Andorra, closely followed by Spanish (35,4%). Portuguese (15%) and French (5,4%) have some moderate relevance as well.
It's stayed in force for centuries, and amazingly enough, it even transferred as the King turned into the President. The French President is the only existing Republican Head of State who is also a monarch, and Andorra is the only monarchy that elects its monarch as a result. No oppression, it's a very prosperous little state. Its people are actually quite similar to Catalans, in culture and to some degree, speech.
