Would have felt more realistic if you made it for Continents.

I think it's safe to assume that @Darkhour isn't going to be updating this to be GS compatible with his last comment and last update both being almost a year ago now despite the mods popularity and many suggestions for alternates and improvements.

If you're looking for other good map mods may I suggest "Got Lakes" or "Detailed Worlds".
A.Es 16 Feb, 2019 @ 7:21am
Hi. Are you updating this for GS? Thanks.
Don Rat0n 14 Feb, 2019 @ 2:15pm
When will be available in gathering storm?
Xeno426 9 Jan, 2019 @ 3:40pm
Would be nice if river amount could be set during creation, rather like the Fantastical Map script.

To add more rivers to this mod, go here:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\289070\1312838799\Maps\Utility

Open the file RiversLakes in Notepad or similar.
Scroll over halfway down until you see: function AddRivers()

Change riverSourceRangeDefault and seaWaterRangeDefault from 15 to something smaller like 8 or 6 and save.
Sig (Von Luck WT) 27 Dec, 2018 @ 12:12pm
@Arcadian it might be but it requires Rise and Fall.
Zuntrix 26 Sep, 2018 @ 6:44am
Hi. I love the map generation. But I am a huge fan of multiple continets seperated by sea (like Earth is) Is there any chance you would try and do this for a continets map instead of Pangea? :)
Arcadian 22 Aug, 2018 @ 9:54am
Detailed Worlds is better in every way.
Waresky 4 Aug, 2018 @ 1:07am
No No No And NO. Whynot REAL Earth? "Realistic World" WTF? Alien World?..puah..
Alaine Moivurg 16 Jul, 2018 @ 3:46pm
More rivers and it'd be perfect.
Fairway61 4 Jul, 2018 @ 6:42am
I like it, but it needs more rivers
Burb 3 Jul, 2018 @ 1:10am
I like it, although I do think you should have a with-ice version for people who don't mind it. Rivers, while better, are a little scarce, and biomes aside from jungles (like grassland, plains and such) seem larger and more widespread than they should be. Could you also go into detail about the tweaks for starting plot positions?
funababbit 28 Jun, 2018 @ 7:14am
Lost me on inland seas. The naval elelemtn to the game has not only been nerfed but virtually orphaned by Firaxis , thus I really don't find it worthwhile building up a navy to sail an inland sea.. I've given up on games after making preparation for a nay only to find I was on an inland sea.

An oft heard complaint about R a& F is that there are too few rivers. I added a mod thar promised more riverts but I haven't seen that it has had any effect.

jonathanbak 23 Jun, 2018 @ 11:23am
Great mod, but needs more rivers. Would be cool to have a more continents version of this maybe?
Red 10 Jun, 2018 @ 1:49am
Great mod; when you spawn in a mountainous region... it looks mountainous! Also, when you play as Aztecs and need those sweet sweet lake tiles, you will no longer be stuck with a lake the size of 1-2 hexes! NO LONGER. You get 4-5 hex-sized lakes.

A lot of the map looks... well, real! I didn't know I needed a map mod like this until I got it.

Great work!
ra-az 8 Jun, 2018 @ 12:02pm
Can there be an option to keep ice I like it a lot
Kit Carson 2 Jun, 2018 @ 2:19am
Easily the best world generation mod on the workshop right now. The larger and more consolidated forests and jungles are excellent, resource distribution is perfect, and the removal of ice is a welcome feature. However, due to the way in which Civ 6 is balanced around its freshwater access mechanic, as well as the importance of water mills for cities with plentiful access to wheat and rice resources, the extreme rarity of rivers in this mod renders it nearly unusable, especially for civs that depend on them like Egypt and the Netherlands. The increased generation of lakes is appreciated, however it, along with the generation of mountains, is not enough to provide ample opportunity for constructing aqueducts, which in turn greatly reduces the ability of civilizations to expand. I believe that if the issue of severely lacking river generation is resolved, this generation script will be nearly flawless.
Genjokoan 29 May, 2018 @ 6:14pm
I will give this a try. I too, think ice is generally a waste of real estate. The only positive thing about ice on a map for me is it gives decent hiding places for nuclear submarines.
Equites 12 May, 2018 @ 4:21am
Cool map script, however, for it to be perfect, You need to turn the lake generations a little bit down, and increase the river generations alot. Commercial hubs are worthless, because they can't get their bonuses for rivers. And rivers makes combat more strategic, and therefore more fun. If you make this change, the map script goes from 8/10 to 10/10
Commander Reincarnation 5 May, 2018 @ 6:43pm
I like the main changes from this map script but the one thing I have to complain about is the lack of oases. In my current game as the Berbers (who REALLY benefit from oases), the desert has several one tile lakes. :'-( Was this a RNG glitch or are oases removed? If they are, what was the reason and would you consider making a copy of this script that includes oases?
thecsapprentice 28 Apr, 2018 @ 11:33am
Has anyone else experienced issues using this mod with Vanilla Civ VI on Linux? Everytime I enable it, I am left with a blank map (only fog of war, no terrain, no units, etc...) and a turn counter that just automatically advances forever. I'm a little frustrated because I'm seeing lots of positive reviews, but I can't get it to work myself.
Waresky 24 Apr, 2018 @ 6:47am
WHY all ppl love non-Earth map,its unknow for me. CIVILIZATION IS up Earth. Not "Alternative". Bah..(nevermind for ma bad english..dnt care). Shitty mod
NikoGeG 6 Apr, 2018 @ 4:31am
I dont know woth others but i would like a little more island around to settle
nmcoyote 2 Apr, 2018 @ 12:29pm
Enjoyed playing however there definately is an issue with too few rivers. Also, it appears to affect other map mods in this respect indicating that it probably affects files used by other map mods. In any case reinstalling Civ 6 to get my rivers back.
UntouchedWagons 29 Mar, 2018 @ 3:04pm
Is it just me or are there never any rivers?
Slewfoot2 6 Mar, 2018 @ 9:40am
I am loving this map. It seems a bit of a challenge for the AI's though
Ave 4 Mar, 2018 @ 7:47am
Follow up to my previous comment: Echoing posters further down the line, a few too many lakes. Still loving this new map script though!

I am a big fan of seeing a continent script to make it more likely to have 2+ land masses fairly split apart.
Ave 3 Mar, 2018 @ 1:16pm
This is really what I have been waiting for, better map scripts, thanks you!
My main issue with CIVI are the poor maps, especially the placement of mountains. If I could make a suggestion before I do more playthroughs with your script is to have an option for way less mountains/less mountains ranges (more single tile mountains). "old" world age just is not enough.

Keep up the good work!
Willelmus 3 Mar, 2018 @ 9:17am
Would like more rivers, but this is definitely a step in the direction I wanted Civ VI to go.
Pigeon 3 Mar, 2018 @ 8:30am
I would highly recommend this mod but the fact that there appear to be a LOT more of the 1-tile lakes than 2+ tile lakes is a bit upsetting. I can deal with having few rivers as it makes the game a little more interesting in terms of settling cleverly, but just a few more wouldn't hurt, especially shorter ones on the coasts.

Mountain ranges are excellent, terrain feature and resource spacement are perfect and the worlds are wonderful. Not encountered any mod conflicts (not that I would expect to). Having Massive and Gigantic maps is +++. I agree with no ice. Keep up the good work! Rated up.
jomarg7290 1 Mar, 2018 @ 8:01pm
@Emporer Eden, your 100% right it is the shape of 1 tile lakes that kill the look for me. Especially when theres 3 or more al nearby.

@Vipertools I do like actually having to use aquaducts for once, but even then if there is a large flat land area, which this mod does have a few of, there is nowhere for that aquaduct. You still need to be near fresh water, or mountains. It just needs some tweaking to get the right balance is all.
Vipertools 1 Mar, 2018 @ 6:26pm
I liket this. Reminds me of the old Detailed Worlds mod on Civfanatics.

And also to the people saying there is not enough rivers: that's what aquaducts are for. :)
Eden Elvis 1 Mar, 2018 @ 11:24am
Another small request, could you make it so that the waters can always be circumnavigated?

@jormag, I think rare rivers is cool but if you dont settle land because of it, the AI will. Also I thik you stumbled upon something interesting, one tile lakes shouldn't always be perfectly round, perhaps FIRAXIS might change it in a future update? Like the desert mountains.
jomarg7290 1 Mar, 2018 @ 8:13am
I actually like that rivers are a little more rare, for both gameplay and real geaographical reasons. I wouldn't bring them back to standard but they do need to be upped a little more as right now they are too rare for the game. Also I would maybe suggest less 1 tile lakes, 2-3 tile lakes just look a lot better. Otherwise this mod is awesome, keep up the good work.
Proclo 1 Mar, 2018 @ 2:20am
Man is there any way rivers can be navigable?
jjohlin088 28 Feb, 2018 @ 9:52pm
I like the idea of this mod but I cannot play it until you bring rivers back. Rivers are one of the greatest variables that I look for when putting a new city, and this mod has practically taken all but a small handful of rivers away. Please bring them back to their standard frequency.
Kurnn 28 Feb, 2018 @ 6:09am
Could you make this type of map but with continents?

I like it just like it is, but split it up in bigger land masses?
Darkhour  [author] 28 Feb, 2018 @ 3:52am
@StrongK @hopefulcratchit @Swagprophet @Batman Thanks for the kind words, I'll look to up the tundra and rivers in the next update.
Batman 28 Feb, 2018 @ 2:45am
I always play as The Netherlands so I need rivers :') But this seriously looks amazing. Will try it out, as the other map packs currently don't work for some reason.
Swagprophet 27 Feb, 2018 @ 5:18pm
this is actually incredibily amazing, i can't tell how how impressed i am with the script. Actually looks like a realisitc ass world. I totally get how you would think rivers are spammed in vanilla, they definitely are, but sadly the gameplay mechanics simply call a lot of rivers bc of housing so I have to agree with everyone there
STRONK 27 Feb, 2018 @ 10:24am
All these better map generation mods dont have much tundra at all. Not really a big deal its still a cool mod
STRONK 27 Feb, 2018 @ 10:22am
Playing peter is difficult without a lot of tundra
lloydy_games 26 Feb, 2018 @ 9:28am
Really liking this but +1 for the more rivers, please. They seem to have been nerfed just a little too much. Thank you.
Darkhour  [author] 25 Feb, 2018 @ 7:18pm
@p0kiehl Its a standalone mod just as some other map script mods that increase map size - people can just choose as they dont need both.
Darkhour  [author] 25 Feb, 2018 @ 7:14pm
@Frosti @bmrigs @Emperor Eden - Rivers are painfull to get right as such and i wanted to gauge how the current script went - i.e. rivers being in demand etc and get feedback first, but obviously duly noted so far.
Darkhour  [author] 25 Feb, 2018 @ 7:11pm
@Kurnn Thanks. No plans for the earth map at present as i've got a few other mods in mind first.
Eden Elvis 25 Feb, 2018 @ 2:43pm
- Rivers should be more 'all over the place'
p0kiehl 25 Feb, 2018 @ 5:15am
Is there any reason you used my Massive and Gigantic map sizes from Larger Map Sizes instead of just having users get additional map sizes from a mod? This now unfortunately creates a conflict when people try to use my mod and yours.
Kurnn 25 Feb, 2018 @ 4:42am
Yet another map pack doesnt wanna work with MOAR, AI+ and Resourceful, for some reason, so no.
