Ive been enjoying the functionality of this mod for years but recently ive just been getting tired of my worlds covered in road spaghetti. Im also feeling like it cheapens roads as a resource

idk, might turn it off and see how i feel

id like to keep the function but hide the roads. maybe only trader and railroads show ? idk:steamhappy::steamhappy::steamhappy:

I would love to see roads become less visible as the eras pass. Eventually they are just a light backdrop to better visualize the railroads. That, however, is quite a long way outside the scope of this mod.

City roads take me home, lalalala
Puddings 17 Oct, 2023 @ 11:52am
I'm going to try this out

I also agree with CyborGnome although I think it should start at classical ages 'cause they had roads by then
Technosamurai 26 Mar, 2023 @ 8:26pm
Easily my favorite mod. Should've been a part of the game to begin with.
micmokum 27 Nov, 2022 @ 3:43am
Best mod for this game. Big thanks to the creator.
Icicleman 18 Feb, 2022 @ 11:15am
Honestly my favorite mod. It may be simple but it is so damn helpful.
CyborGnome 12 Feb, 2022 @ 1:29am
This is a great mod...
To anyone reading, i recommend this for immersion.

But I do wonder if there's any way to make it only start after some time (like medieval ages)? Just curiosity... I myself won't mess with it, since the script is from turn 1 and i would have to re-write the whole thing (which is NEVER a good idea).

@ineffabilis:

This mod clearly includes a script that it has saved to your game from turn 1 that causes the roads to appear every-time you build an improvement, and once the script saves to your saved game file, it cannot be removed even if you uninstall the mod and remove all of its files from your computer.

That means that you'll have to start a brand new game and save file without the mod installed to no longer have this mod cause your improvements to be built with roads included with the improvement.

Does that make sense?
Decoy World. 26 Oct, 2020 @ 12:36pm
hello. how can i inactivate this mod? i tried to uninstall but my eras still have roads.
LOBO 18 Aug, 2020 @ 8:19am
Lol it almost make it like civ1 when you built road for extra income :)
Cobber [1st M.I.] 14 Jun, 2020 @ 5:49pm
@Roland: Not as far as I know. As I recall, all this mod does is allow improvements like farms when created to also have roads created with them.
Roland Deepson 14 Jun, 2020 @ 3:01pm
I'm looking to play with FEWER roads on the map instead of more. Gating railroad construction behind Military Engineers is all well and good, but what I'm looking for is a way to REMOVE roads that are already on the map. Whether the roads were originally random-scribbles by a hectic trading network, or for roads left behind after I raze enemy cities, is any of that something that this mod can help with?
Cobber [1st M.I.] 18 Mar, 2020 @ 2:02am
@TernenceS: Yes, it requires you start a new game to work, it doesn't apply to a game already in progress. Trust me, I tried that when I first started to use this mod and it didn't work until I started a new game. With any new mod, if in doubt, start a new game to have it work.
TernenceS 17 Mar, 2020 @ 10:44pm
Is this MOD needs new game?
Cobber [1st M.I.] 2 Feb, 2020 @ 2:39am
This isn't creating railroads (with GS installed, active and working fine) after that tech is researched, even though railroads actually arrive before modern roads become available; at least it wasn't in my current (now abandoned) game. I'll have a look at the mod's files to see if I can adjust that for myself, but I also thought I should flag it for you in case you weren't aware.
LJR 2 Jan, 2020 @ 11:38am
Great, simple mod. One question though, do roads appear in districts? Do I need to make an improvement before placing a new district to have a road there?
jboord44 14 Dec, 2019 @ 8:43am
Just curious but how does this work? Is there an extra command to build roads, or do they automatically build them as part of other improvements?
Ingolenuru 1 Nov, 2019 @ 1:24pm
Thank you for the update. Definitely subscribing again. Taking time but my mod list will be filled with only stuff that is working today. :)
AOM  [author] 1 Nov, 2019 @ 1:04pm
Hi Ingolenuru, the mod is updated for the September patch.

Hi jtdice, we have the mod installed on Mac OS Mojave, and it works fine. Have not tested it on Catalina.

Hi Dimos, we have not tested our mod with that mod. If you try it out, it would be great if you posted about your results.
Ingolenuru 30 Oct, 2019 @ 12:24pm
Can we get a 'Sept patch' ok' pleas?
jtdice 11 Oct, 2019 @ 8:54pm
Anyone using this mod on macOS Catalina?
autico 27 May, 2019 @ 5:54am
Automatic update to railroad would be incredible! This mod is great regardless though!
zon 11 Apr, 2019 @ 1:45am
Thanks again for this great mod and it's swift updating policy. Would you consider auto-updating modern roads to railroads once all research has been completed? It's just crazy clicking work sending military engineers around the map to do so.. many thanks!
Burp Reynolds 8 Apr, 2019 @ 8:21pm
This makes moving around in your city so much better. Thanks.
kyllebylle 12 Mar, 2019 @ 2:12pm
@AOM, Thanks! And thanks again for bringing me a great mod!
Jessy2299 12 Mar, 2019 @ 1:31pm
@yutterh No with the UIM mod the builder are the one that build the road...
AOM  [author] 12 Mar, 2019 @ 10:57am
Hi Seb, thank you for the clarification. We'll look into the issue to see if there is something that can be done about it.
kyllebylle 12 Mar, 2019 @ 3:05am
@AOM Yes I'm sure this mod is the cause. It's because of their Unique building in the Theater Square (Marae) which gives them +2Culture +2Faith to all "passable" features. Try building that building and see if all improved tiles instantly recieves +2 +2. Best, Seb
yutterh 11 Mar, 2019 @ 8:48pm
@Grathocke Yes it is another mod

@jessy2299 It is military engineers that can build roads
Jessy2299 11 Mar, 2019 @ 8:12pm
@Grathocke the builder lose their ability to build road after you get railroad to build railroad instead.
Grathocke 11 Mar, 2019 @ 4:50pm
@AOM well, until the other day I could, but it may be another mod. I'll check with UIM mod to see if there is a problem there.
AOM  [author] 11 Mar, 2019 @ 3:08pm
Hi BulletSponge, we can take a look at this issue :)
AOM  [author] 11 Mar, 2019 @ 3:07pm
Hi kyllebylle, we've played with GS and noticed nothing amiss with the Maori. Could another mod be causing the issue?

Hi CoffeeKitty, if you send your log files we can take a look.

Hi Grathocke, to my knowledge, and based on the Civ VI Wiki, builders have never been able to make a standalone road.
Grathocke 11 Mar, 2019 @ 2:26pm
For some reason my builders are no longer able to build roads. There are roads when they construct an improvement, but they don't have the option of building a stand alone road.
CoffeeKitty 25 Feb, 2019 @ 12:44pm
mod doesn't seem to work for me, it doesnt say its outdated or anything, i enable it, build improvements, don't see roads, don't get reduced movement, just nothing

i'm on GS
kyllebylle 24 Feb, 2019 @ 8:49am
@AOM Love this!!! However, I just discovered that it creates a pretty bonkers Maori as all of their improvements get roads (and +2 culture +2 faith). Any solution to this?
BulletSponge3010 23 Feb, 2019 @ 10:02pm
There are several mods which do that. I like BIM (Builders Improvements Mod) by SwissHalberdier or UIM (Unit Improvements Mod) which fixes several unit problems and includes BIM.
Cosmic Fox 21 Feb, 2019 @ 11:24am
I was expecting builders to make roads.. Be cool if that was an available option. I for one miss that part of civ and boat that carry units.. bah old school civ player :steamhappy:
BulletSponge3010 18 Feb, 2019 @ 4:09am
One problem I have noticed with Persia. They have a special that upgrades internal roads by one level, and this is not happening without actual road building by units. Can you look at this?
Jessy2299 17 Feb, 2019 @ 2:03pm
Yeah ! It work fine with this update thank a lot !
Attila-Van-De-Hun™ 17 Feb, 2019 @ 8:49am
don't seam to be working for me
Grathocke 17 Feb, 2019 @ 6:36am
Thank the gods! I was so used to this mod that it was pure torture playing without it. :steamhappy:
konradius001 17 Feb, 2019 @ 6:05am
You did it! Working now.
Actually had not noticed the update, so it suddenly started working when I started up the game again.
AOM  [author] 17 Feb, 2019 @ 1:58am
@Jessy2299 and others that have issues in Gathering Storm, can you try the new version? It fixed the roads to at least still build normal roads when we tried it.
AOM  [author] 16 Feb, 2019 @ 11:32pm
Hi all, we just got the expansion about half an hour ago, and we can take a look at how the mod can work with the new features GS has.

Right now, we haven't had a chance to look because we did not own the expansion.

If it's possible (and it should be) the mod will be updated soon so that it will work in GS :)
