Well, I can swap engines for about anything reasonable and still get decent performance, it's just that the ship needs fixing.

I recently noticed that, I believe the safe operating temperature of Diamond has been made more realistic and as such the current engine bells are unworkable in diamond. Try Carbyne from the COADE forums mod material list or the mod material pack on the workshop.

Broken as of current version - the engines are broken.
