I love this buildings so much! Can you enable this for goths? please :) !
DestPrince 2 Dec, 2018 @ 11:17pm
Do you think you could make another architecture mod that changes the Huns to Mordor? Just out of curiosity?
Fruchtvampir  [author] 5 May, 2018 @ 4:39am
@Mediocre Emperor
Yes, of course. The Castle Age buildings are extracted of a dead mod :D
I am looking forward to your project, since a realistic graphic mod for the Goths would be awesome. Some people seem to confuse Gothic Architecture with the Germanic tribe ... xD
Mediocre Emperor 4 May, 2018 @ 9:26pm
May I use the graphics for a the Castle and Imperial in a Gothic architecture set?
mayosrojas 2 May, 2018 @ 7:36pm
I'd love to see that! I think those roofs may be appropiate. It would be the best architecture set for vikings until now! :D
Fruchtvampir  [author] 2 May, 2018 @ 10:36am
@mayosrojas You are totally right, at least the Feudal Age architecture fits perfectly to northmen. But I think in Castle Age they should have shingle roofs - actually the original Northern European architecture set in the Feudal Age would serve well (maybe with some edits). What do you think? I could try something and upload it soon.
mayosrojas 30 Apr, 2018 @ 9:17am
I like this one for vikings more than the currently one for IA mod. I really hope to see it for vikings some day. Thank you very much anyway :)
mayosrojas 30 Apr, 2018 @ 9:12am
I agree with robert.kis.rath. This set is perfect for vikings using IA mod. In fact, the architecture of Rohan are actually based on nordics. They are like "the alternative version" of nordics if they had been a "horse culture" as huns and stuff.
Fruchtvampir  [author] 9 Jan, 2018 @ 8:51am
@robert.kis.rath
You are right, I could do that in the future.
Fruchtvampir  [author] 9 Jan, 2018 @ 8:50am
@bdonaghu Thx. I think there is a design of a Helm's Deep wall. Probably that would be a good one.
robert.kis.rath 9 Jan, 2018 @ 1:20am
This architecture style would be a really good match for the Vikings. I actually like this style better than the IA architecture mod for the vikings where the wood seems to be painted a bright orange color. Any chance of seeing an Independent Architecture version of this mod for the Vikings?
bdonaghu 8 Jan, 2018 @ 5:21pm
Hey, great designs! Any chance you can change the fortified walls? They are the same as the original once you upgrade from Stone Wall, and since Slavs do get Fortified Walls, it'd look nice if those were Rohan style as well.
Fruchtvampir  [author] 19 Nov, 2017 @ 11:52am
@ReconReis
Thx!
Fruchtvampir  [author] 19 Nov, 2017 @ 11:52am
@philoshistorias
Yes, of course ^^
Fruchtvampir  [author] 19 Nov, 2017 @ 11:51am
@Phoenix Alaris
I think the Africans will get a Mordor Skin. It will look very evil (no racism) :D
Ferrão 18 Nov, 2017 @ 11:19am
Awesome
philoshistorias 18 Nov, 2017 @ 6:33am
is this mod also available for KI players?
Mara Bradford the Eevee 17 Nov, 2017 @ 10:18am
I can only imagine what Mordor would look like....
Metopheles 14 Nov, 2017 @ 2:18pm
No rush, don't worry, just as a note and feedback intended.
Fruchtvampir  [author] 14 Nov, 2017 @ 1:53pm
@Metopheles
Yes, I will improve some buildings at a later time.
The TC's shingle roof was just a temporary solution because the original roof was buggy (I have imported the textures from an unfinished mod).

At the moment, a Harad Unit set is created. Unfortunately I cannot do everything simultaneously :(

Theoretical, giving the set to the Huns would be possible. But now I have decided to use Independent Unit instead of Independent Architecture, so it would change the whole North European set.
But if the data modders combined both mods to one, it could work.
Metopheles 14 Nov, 2017 @ 1:41pm
Maybe you could update the castle a bit to give it a higher base with stones and the inner court with terrain like you did on the archery range? And the TC with the brown roofing over the pagoda pieces like it has on the roof? The wonder without or with a slightly lower elevated base made of rubble and rocks like in the movie. And maybe... maybe the Huns with the set ? Would really fit them. My favourite set as of now.
Fruchtvampir  [author] 13 Nov, 2017 @ 6:03am
@Metopheles Nice idea. I think this can be done with this mod. So, I will try to find a appropriate solution.
Metopheles 12 Nov, 2017 @ 2:05pm
with the unique units, you could do a visual change to team shared units like the condottiero. So.. as an example, the Elves that come to aid in Helm's Deep are the condottieri as a shared unit since Rohan is allied with them, so the Rohan player can train them.
Fruchtvampir  [author] 12 Nov, 2017 @ 12:24pm
@Metopheles Ok, that's true - not every civ must have a Middle-earth counterpart.

At the moment, I am working with Independent Architecture to have a unique set for civilizations like Gondor.
I am sure that you will agree that unique unit sets would also make a great difference between the civs. But recently there has not been done a mod that allows to have unique buildings and units in one data set (in a game you can only select one, as you probably will know).
Thus, I am unsure whether to wait or to create the graphic mods without Independent Architecture (in the second case, e.g. the whole Western European set would consist of Gondor buildings, but Gondor factions would have different looking soldiers than Harad or the Elves).

Hmm, Hobbits could be representet by AOE1 or AOE2 Alpha units, since they are unusually small. But I do not know exactly how to make a whole civ of them. At least, the above described Independent Unit mod would have to be prioritized.
Metopheles 12 Nov, 2017 @ 10:53am
What civ will the Shire with the Hobbits be? Graphical changes to all units to make them smaller? :D
Metopheles 12 Nov, 2017 @ 10:52am
You don't have to do all civs. A game can only have 8 players, so 8 civs is more than enough. You won't be able to change the languages of the civs too, so don't be too concerned. And I think the issue with the Persian Cavalry is, if I want to play a civ, then I want to use their castle units, because that's the signature. And the elephants just don't stand the test. the battle elephants or the khmer elephants are so much more practical
Fruchtvampir  [author] 12 Nov, 2017 @ 1:40am
@Axios Thank you!
Fruchtvampir  [author] 12 Nov, 2017 @ 1:40am
@Metopheles Yeah, you're right, I think the Persians were made so underpowered in civ bonuses and techs because they had elephants ... quite silly. Nevertheless they have a pretty strong cavalry tree (all armor techs, Paladin, +2 bonus vs archers) which makes them to fit the Haradrim.

But it is also correct to take the Indians as another Harad civilization. Therefor I will have to study the LOTR lore a bit :)

At present, I have a lot of issues with some civs I do not know how to integrate into Middle-earth. E. g., the Spanish or the Turks.
Sigurd 11 Nov, 2017 @ 5:53pm
Awesome!
Metopheles 11 Nov, 2017 @ 5:15pm
I just went with the image of the Indian Elephant Archer. Persians are a really badly done civ in my opinion, because the lack of tech and decent units, sadly. But anyways, it's up to you and I care more about the visual than the Lotr unit accuracy, I wont call you out if Sauron's henchmen use gunpowder instead of arrows, as long as the buildings give the vibe :D
Fruchtvampir  [author] 11 Nov, 2017 @ 4:59pm
@Metopheles I actually do not know how to use the Indians because of their focus on gunpowder units (I have changed the gunner to a crossbowman in a prototype version - but I do not think that Harad used a lot of crossbows). At the moment the Persians are thought to be standard Haradrim but there are many other civilizations in Harad (e.g. the Trollmen).

Lothlorien will be represented by the Britons, correct. I think, the Vietnamnese will be Mirkwood Elves with the elephants converted to Ents. Sounds strange, but I would prefer peoples for Harad that have access to camel riders.
Metopheles 11 Nov, 2017 @ 4:29pm
I assume Indians and South East Asians are getting the Haradrim style because of the elephants/oliphaunts? :D and English Long Bow Elves.

I love graphical mods. It's like playing an entirely different game
Fruchtvampir  [author] 11 Nov, 2017 @ 3:26pm
@Metopheles The answer will be a complete Middle-earth overhaul for Age of Empires II HD - will consume a lot of time ... ^^
Fruchtvampir  [author] 11 Nov, 2017 @ 3:25pm
@Mediocre Emperor Thanks, I think this would also work. As far as I know, the Feudal Age textures were originally Germanic buildings.
Metopheles 11 Nov, 2017 @ 12:30pm
The community calls for mods - And Arthoron will answer
Mediocre Emperor 11 Nov, 2017 @ 11:22am
Glorious! Would make for an awesome Goth/Teuton set or an anachronistic Germanic tribe set for an Ancient Age mod.
Fruchtvampir  [author] 11 Nov, 2017 @ 10:10am
@KOLFLAX You're welcome ;) Fortunately I am working on a Gondor replacement for the Byzantines (works with Independant Architecture). First version will be uploaded very soon!
KOLFLAX 11 Nov, 2017 @ 10:02am
Thanks God!!! At last someone who makes a mod of these! please do one of Gondor
Fruchtvampir  [author] 11 Nov, 2017 @ 9:50am
@Szaladon Thank you, but I have to mention that all credits in reference to the graphics go to their creators (view the links). I just grabbed suiting textures from different mods and renamed them. There was and is also a lot to fix, since "Battles of Middle-earth" was an unfinished/dead project.
Whanaungatanga 11 Nov, 2017 @ 8:24am
Very impressive work.
