Thanks dolphins
I've chatted with Biffa that once, and he's a top guy. Never met $2 but he seems a great fella.
Glad you like Merrickstowe. This is really old for me... very much 2017 standards LOL. I should really come back and do an upgrade... perhaps that should be a big challenge of 2021.
dolphins5499 2 Jan, 2021 @ 7:46pm
you, biffa, two dollar, all of you youtubers have been a great help in me learning and getting thoroughly addicted to this game, during a really crappy crappy crappy crappy 2020, all of you "blokes" have been truly a godsend. thank you very much.!!! i am currently building my second merrickstowe, i allways build a demo game, find out whats working and not, then, put the hammer down and get it.!!!!!

Hi Maggie

Sounds more like you have a mod problem than a map problem. I've reviewed over a thousand maps on my YouTube Channel now, and with the rare exception of tiny island maps which have just one tile of land, you always have extra tiles to buy into.

I'd suggest starting a new map clean, with no mods at all, just to verify this is a weird mod issue. If it continues then I can only think of verifying your files, or even a full reinstall of the game. Something isn't right.
maggie 31 Dec, 2020 @ 8:53am
Does this have more than one tile and a highway connection in first tile? I've been having a problem for past few weeks as every map I've started has only been one tile only and no more to purchase. Why is that?
elrix69 3 Feb, 2020 @ 4:42pm
Lol. nothing further from the truth. Total noob, struggling to get past 20K pop. And struggling to stop drooling over the amazing content you creators and youtubers are putting out.
BonBonB  [author] 3 Feb, 2020 @ 1:47am
Hi elrix
Not at my gaming PC right now, so this is from memory and might not be 100%

It sounds like you are getting to the point where you have 'beaten the game' and can move on to playing a more sandbox game. So for the statues go to Content Manager, Mods, Unlock All (or something similar, its a vanilla mod), and you'll no longer be restricted by in game targets.

The elevated train track I'm pretty sure is a network, so you can change this by simply upgrading the rail in the same way you would a road. Find the rail network you prefer, select the "!" from the tool bar, and click the segents you want to change.

Hope this helps

BonBonB,

Sorry for posting here, but I don't twitter/facebook any other such social media. I have been loving your what map series and map fixes, and I came up with 2 suggestions for for map fix, the Map Review 847 - Augustine Lake when I tried the map a few days ago, "Elevated Train Track Over Wall - Part 2 (Deprecated)", how would a newbie like me update the map to to the newer vesion of the track over wall pack? The other for perhaps your intermission, I found a few statues that were recently posted, but they require the CIM's health to be below 20% to purchase, how would someone edit those parameters either to remove them or ease them?
BonBonB  [author] 3 Sep, 2019 @ 10:52pm
@Laly - Did you enable Network Extensions 2 in the Content Manager?
Laly305 2 Sep, 2019 @ 12:58pm
i just ran across this map via your YouTube channel and it looked amazing but when i tried to load it up it completely failed does this map still work or is something else going on
BonBonB  [author] 20 Sep, 2018 @ 3:07pm
Cool, WWNK :-)
White Walker 20 Sep, 2018 @ 9:38am
Time to have a play with your map. Will upload at the end, as a save game.
Hendrik aka Lucky Pants 14 Sep, 2018 @ 7:14am
aussie - you have a mod that is faulty because of the last fee DLC that came with parklife. I can't remember the name .. but it is in the forum and in the facebook group. Many people experienced your problem .. its not the map; it is because of the CS update and your mods.
BonBonB  [author] 14 Sep, 2018 @ 6:49am
That's very weird indeed. It definitely isn't the map in itself, been up nearly a year, 1.8k subs - played on at least 2 YouTube Let's Plays, plus all the stuff I do on it.

I'm trying to remember, there was a mod recently which stopped zoning, but it has slipped my mind which. But then as you say, if this isn't happening on other maps that is weird indeed.

Can you do me a favour, and reload the map with all mods switched off (except Network Extensions 2). If the map runs fine then there is a bizarre mod conflict. If that happens to be the case, please share your list of mods and I'll do some tests and try to find (and fix) the problem for you.

Thanks Toxic. I appreciate the feedback!

Love the realistic water!
BonBonB  [author] 15 May, 2018 @ 1:49am
Hey jlcarneiro

There's no need to, I built this map with weaker machines in mind. The generic tree pack is actually much more effecient than the vanilla trees (the most intensive tree has half the tris of the top vanilla tree, and this scales down. So here's what to do:

Unsub to everything except the generic tree pack. The theme is only 51mb, but if this is too much switch to another. Now launch the game.

You will only be missing the weeds on the disused rail (which you'd probably delete anyway), the Cypress trees are only used for detailing Clanborough Court out in the fog, so you wouldn't miss them, and the Juniper bush is only used for decorating the farm; again, not really essential.

So run with just the generic tree pack, your map will look good AND run better than in vanilla :-)
jlcarneiro 14 May, 2018 @ 4:38pm
Very nice map, thank you very much! I have a little request though: since I run C:S on a potato, can you create a similar map but without required assets, please? ;)
BonBonB  [author] 14 May, 2018 @ 6:03am
Thanks HH. Have fun :-)
HookerHeels 13 May, 2018 @ 1:10pm
By far my favourite map for CS. You got yourself a YouTube sub and a Steam favourite. Can not wait to play on it.
BonBonB  [author] 11 May, 2018 @ 4:44pm
Thanks NoirMoutton, much appreciated/

A superb first map. Hreat YT channel. Look forward to more maps from you too. Loving the whole narrative- all careffully considered and aids any future plans for development
BonBonB  [author] 11 Mar, 2018 @ 12:47am
Thanks for the feedback Jakob

Let me quickly say why I stopped at two. The two obvious rail routes into the maps are down in that corner area. Trains like flat terrain, so cutting down through the hills seemed counter intuitive. The flatest route followed the highway, but a rail route along here didn't fit with my vision of how the area evolved (see the long story in the description). The only other possible connection was across the firth, at the location bridge. But I didn't want to use custom bridges in this map, and the vanilla bridge just didn't look right.

You can add your own extra connections. I think the mod is by BloodyPenguin.

As for traffic, I'd start by building a bypass from the River Pann overpass down to main 4 road intersection. Retrospectively for me, this was my biggest mistake on this map. All the traffic has to use the highway running through the start square. Maybe this is the fix you need instead?

PS I'd love to see screen shots of the city.
jakob02 10 Mar, 2018 @ 4:57am
It´s a good map, expecially with the mountains and the river thorugh it. You can easily build a Dam up it. The only problem, what i have, is that there is only a Train Connection on one Side of the map. Could you make another Train connection? Because in my city there is so much traffic jam, because of Trucks, which just drive through the city
BonBonB  [author] 25 Feb, 2018 @ 12:46am
Thanks tipobaha, had fun writing it

@trist14222 - that is odd, but at least you got it working :-)
trist14222 8 Feb, 2018 @ 2:57pm
@BonBonB , just following up, your map ended up working once I subbed to Network Extensions, which is weird as I already had Network Extensions 2, and the earler one doesnt do anything, but it made this map work for some bizzare reason
tipobaha 19 Dec, 2017 @ 6:20am
Great description, good map, thanks

Thanks Rav and Chak

For people having issues loading this with the "Object Reference" Errors...
When you install a mod for the game from the workshop, you additionally need to enable it from the game menu "Content Manager". By default mods install in a turned off state.

I was getting this error, too, because I've never installed a mod before for the game. I put a lot of faith in BonBonB to give in and try it out but had the frustrations of thinking my game broke because I didn't know about how to turn the mods on in the game.
FluffyChubby 23 Nov, 2017 @ 4:49am
Awesome map :TheSmiley:
BonBonB  [author] 19 Nov, 2017 @ 8:30am
Cheers Grizz and Monkeycling :-)
Monkeycling 18 Nov, 2017 @ 2:57am
Not only did the map look great on YouTube but I absolutely love the backstory you have given above. 10/10.
Grizz 11 Nov, 2017 @ 5:58pm
Beautiful work Mr. B!
BonBonB  [author] 9 Nov, 2017 @ 2:28pm
Hey Mannpeter. Nope, I've literally never even subbed to non vanilla vehicles, let alone added them to the map. All you need for the map is vanilla, plus the required items listed above. I'm at a loss at the moment, obviously only a minority with problems, but I want everyone to have access. Can I ask what mods you have running?
Peter The Wolf 9 Nov, 2017 @ 1:06pm
@BonBonB Did you use specific vehicles while building the map? Turns out, this error is typical for people who unsubbed from vehicle mods which then failed to load even on new games.
Peter The Wolf 9 Nov, 2017 @ 11:12am
Same problem here :( I'd love to play your map!
BonBonB  [author] 9 Nov, 2017 @ 8:44am
That's disappointing. I've tried searching for an answer, but it seems there isn't a set answer. This error has been showing up for people since forever. The game is trying to access an asset which isn't there. What that asset is, who knows.... :-(
trist14222 9 Nov, 2017 @ 12:54am
@BonBonB yep used it to try and figure out, just comes out with this message
"Object reference not set to an instance of an object [System.NullReferenceException]

Details:
No details"

having the same problem with some custom maps but not others
BonBonB  [author] 9 Nov, 2017 @ 12:52am
Hey Trist, do you use the Loading Screen mod? This often finds any problems or conflicts.
trist14222 9 Nov, 2017 @ 12:42am
I've had the same error as @Craig @BonBonB , even with alll Mods and assets besides this map turned off, very strange
BonBonB  [author] 8 Nov, 2017 @ 9:50am
That's very strange Craig. There's nothing in the map that could cause this, and no one else has had this problem. I don't know what mods you are using, but I'm guessing the problem is there. Maybe something like using Network Extensions Project alongside Network Extentions 2 (bad mix)

Do you use the Loading Screen Mod? That should highlight the issue.
Lethrnek 8 Nov, 2017 @ 8:23am
I get an error and the map fails to load properly. ctrl+alt+del is my only course of action.
BonBonB  [author] 6 Nov, 2017 @ 5:17pm
@hendrik - thanks and have fun
@Maine's Own - hahaha, I didn't think of it as advertising. People asked if I were ever going to make a map, and would have wanted to see it. Rather than be pre-judged, I hid it in a review, and let the viewer make up their own mind. But thanks for subbing and hope it lives up to expectations :-)
@AYM3M - Thanks, there was a lot of planning involved. It won't suit everyone, and yes, it's my first map so I will have made mistakes. But overall I'm personally very happy with it, and am glad you agree :-)
hexula 6 Nov, 2017 @ 3:32pm
@BonBonB: you did the perfect map that we can build and enjoy landscapes , smooth, simple ,, no lags ,, works fine with most known mods . it's really really a very nice build by you. thank you so much for this wonderful map. keep it like this always.

btw: i have RICO and it's working fine with the map i have no issues.
Maine's Own 6 Nov, 2017 @ 3:05pm
after the very subtle advertizing on your YT-channel, of course I had to take a look. I will certainly try this on one of my next "new maps", the video looked promising.
Hendrik aka Lucky Pants 5 Nov, 2017 @ 1:22pm
Congratulations on being the most popular map this week already!
I downloaded your map --- yes: it is good, and it lovely to build on.
BonBonB  [author] 5 Nov, 2017 @ 11:09am
@Czardus - I'm waiting for someone to reprimand me on my three ridiculous 'jokes' in the back story :D Have fun exploring, and remember to share your screen shots :-)
BonBonB  [author] 5 Nov, 2017 @ 11:07am
@astronaught catedoge - Sounds like a mod problem. I've read somewhere this can be caused by RICO. If you are running Rico try unsubbing and trying again.

If you don't have Rico, or this doesn't solve the problem, write your list of mods in the comments below and I'll see if I can work out the error for you.

@Ravencroft - If its the national road running through the valley in the forest, I know. It's actually not broke, but I'd already used the maximum of four outside connections, and couldn't get the mod that allows more to work. I ran this road to the perimeter to give the impression of a through road. The valley needed something to tie it into the rest of the map, and a scenic drive made sense. But having the road as a dead end felt odd so I ran it off the map. So in short: Road=not broken, My Brain=Failing. Hope you enjoy the map, and feel free to turn that road into an outside connection if you wish :-)
wasd warrior 5 Nov, 2017 @ 9:26am
i cant get this to load right. it loads, but has errors, and the map is real fucked. like a giant sunken box with no roads to start in.
Ravencroft 5 Nov, 2017 @ 3:42am
One of the external road connections is broke.
Czardus 4 Nov, 2017 @ 2:30pm
So fun that you wrote up all of this backstory. Great idea, and I can't wait to load up this map and explore.
