@Matt it's still working :) thx for the info
Spacesuit Spiff  [author] 8 Feb, 2016 @ 12:29am
@Unifire It's been a couple years since I touched this but if I'm remembering correctly those checks are activated by going into that room in the 3 different "phases" of the map. However I wouldn't be at all surprised if they're just bugged and you're the first to notice (unsure if anyone else continued after opening the exit). I can take a look sometime this week if you like.
Unifire 7 Feb, 2016 @ 5:54pm
I was wondering how you can activate the middle and the lowest checkbox in room 3 with all of the turrets, i already killed all turrets and brought all the cubes to the end
Traveler807 17 Jan, 2016 @ 8:23am
This is one epic map, reversing the testing stream direction did mess with my head a bit especially when working out which doors would still be open to me and which would be closed. But looking back its all quite logical. Thoroughly deserved thumbs up, must have taken an age to design and test:)
Spacesuit Spiff  [author] 9 Mar, 2014 @ 12:42pm
Ouch, that must have sucked. I recommend you google up how to noclip, since it's generally helpful for things like this and also testing your own maps.
hitman68 9 Mar, 2014 @ 6:02am
Well I'm sorry but I gave this the thumbs down, simply because I spent about an hour and a half on this only to find I got jammed up on one of those camera's that ( I felt ) was placed too low. Couldn't get loose, couldn't move. Had to exit the game and lost my progress. You could imagine my frustration. If it wasn't hard enough to try and figure out what to do just to be undone by a camera. May I make a suggestion, maybe move that camera higher. Its in the centre chamber past the second door.
Spacesuit Spiff  [author] 28 May, 2013 @ 9:45am
lock room 2 open, start in the middle, work your way outwards. first step involves the Faith Plate. good luck :)
Hln 28 May, 2013 @ 5:10am
Hey, I am back for the map : )
there has been a while and I am surprise it has became 1.2.10 already

Nice updates, especially at 3i , I spent nearly 1 hour and still can't figure out how to get the bridge out

Is there any tips for me?
Spacesuit Spiff  [author] 23 May, 2013 @ 8:07am
Just out of curiousity, because nobody seems to notice this: I put numbers of all the elements that trigger in specific rounds: a 1 on the ones you can only use in p1, 2 for things that don't work until p2, 3 for things that dont work until p3. Notice that at all? Anyway thanks for trying
Bisqwit 23 May, 2013 @ 2:09am
Had a go at this. http://bisqwit.iki.fi/kala/odysseus-ravoria-blind-by-bisqwit.zip Total length: about 52 minutes. Crashes the game in parts 7 and 8. Quit because of that, and because of general dissatisfaction. I figure I'm about 20% done in your map at that point. Lots of hidden connections, spooky actions. What ever will activate this trinket? What ever does that button do? Look around, 360 degrees, on, off, on, off. What changed? Oh, that. And that, apparently. Lots of guessing. Some illustrations of this player being excessively stupid. Oh, the door opened? But I didn't even use half of the puzzle elements yet. Yeah... Not a very rewarding map. I'll abstain from voting, lest overt negativeness become a pattern. Sorry. Won't make a YouTube video, because that stuff literally takes hours.
Spacesuit Spiff  [author] 30 Apr, 2013 @ 9:51pm
Thanks for showing me that :)
camerson1313 28 Apr, 2013 @ 8:32pm
There is only one other map I have played that is about as hard as this one. You should check it out. http://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=87648921
Ivolvy 25 Apr, 2013 @ 12:14am
If you want the exact opposite of this, these turrets take a lot of ways to defeat:

Spacesuit Spiff  [author] 18 Apr, 2013 @ 11:54pm
Finished your blindrun, though I didn't see much of the second half because I've been updating. The map is now better-lit and has a few other small improvements.
Spacesuit Spiff  [author] 18 Apr, 2013 @ 9:47pm
I'm up to 1iii now and wow, this was an eye opener. So far, most of my energy was used to prevent the dozens of exploits that inevitably pop up in such a large map, now I see that I need to make it more accessible as well. I suppose it can't be helped, as this was the first blindrun I saw, but I've been getting caught up on Mevious and this seems impenetrable by comparisson. I think I'll do a redesign to make things more obvious, although not immediately; do you have any advice?
As for the video, you're following the intended path so far (although in 2i you can send the cube across the goo using the funnel, which is faster than setting it on the slope). You don't seem to have gone for the hidden turrets yet (where I am, anyway); if you do, there are ten of them hidden in room 3, and you can destroy them all. Also, you found some fascinating potential solutions for 1iii, including the one that actually worked. Thanks for showing me that.
toncica 18 Apr, 2013 @ 2:12pm
Here you go, three hours of blindness ;)
http://youtu.be/DfJhX09forI

I'll do another run anyway later.
Spacesuit Spiff  [author] 18 Apr, 2013 @ 1:28pm
If you wouldn't mind uploading, I love blindruns. You're right about the older versions, and I'm glad the year it took to get it working this well paid off, and that you enjoyed it this much :)
toncica 18 Apr, 2013 @ 10:32am
If you remember, I played your map in an earlier version ages ago and couldn't find the motivation to continue after 3i, it was also a bit buggy at that time I think. Boy, has this map changed a lot. I don't know if it was the improved design or that I was mentally prepared to do it now but today I started and didn't stop until finished. My solution for the last part should be mostly as intended but some doubts remain about how I got there. If you like I'll upload my blind run of three hours, I can also do a new condensed run after I have recovered.
It was a very tough and rewarding challenge and it's great to see that this project, which in my opinion had quite some issues back then, has blossomed into this amazing map. It should be mandatory for every seasoned portal player. Favorited.
Spacesuit Spiff  [author] 11 Apr, 2013 @ 4:12pm
Thanks for catching all that. It was useful for this update
buff00n 6 Apr, 2013 @ 8:29pm
You can stand at the edge of the goo on the right side, all the way against the far wall, and just barely hit the corner of the portal surface in the middle of the glass room. I guess it didn't occur to me that was also cheating.
Spacesuit Spiff  [author] 6 Apr, 2013 @ 5:35pm
Heh, walking across the fizzler had never even occured to me. I think I'll leave it in there, because coming up with that is just as impressive as figuring out the stupid-elaborate way of avoiding the fizzler. What I don't get is how you never had to use the light bridge, unless you were doing that tricky jump in room 2. It's there for you to stand above the gel pit and send the cube up the center in 2ii and 2iii, and the laser fixes an exploit. Glad you had fun
buff00n 5 Apr, 2013 @ 8:29pm
I had to give up and come back later, but I finally got it. I'm pretty sure my total is well over four hours. This is easily the most brain-busting puzzle I've played so far, so many ways to solve the same rooms. Excellent work!

I think I got hung up on getting the two cube buttons at the end filled first, and then worrying about how to get a portal from one side to the other. Once I realized you needed all five to make that happen I got on the right track.

I think I may have cheated in one place. Are you supposed to cross the fizzer on the floor in room 3, round 3 by simply jumping on the emitter at the wall and walking across?

Also, I never got the point of the laser field and light bridge in the corner of room 2. they didn't seem to help or hinder me.
Spacesuit Spiff  [author] 11 Mar, 2013 @ 7:10pm
You have a point. Perhaps I'll modify it such that the first door fizzler the player comes across will seizure and then 'break'
Slimpack 11 Mar, 2013 @ 4:01pm
Oh ok. Yeah, you can jump across the acid at that place even before the piston platform rises. It's tricky though. I had just assumed that you were meant to make a tricky jump. About my lack of direction comment, I dunno, maybe I'm just looking for a scapegoat for the fact that it took me 4 hours to solve this, but I just found the final solution kind on unintuitive to figure out. It's true that you can easily see that you have to connect both rooms with the ball dropper buttons together with portals, but I found it hard to know where to start to go about doing that. It tooke me a while to realize that the fizzlers between puzzles had gone down and that you can now connect the various elements in the puzzles with each other . That's just how it was for me anyway. I still like the way you have to solve the same rooms over again in different ways though.
Spacesuit Spiff  [author] 10 Mar, 2013 @ 10:23pm
You never have to jump across the acid until the final stage when the piston platform comes up, and that's made deliberately easy. What were you referring to? Did you try to jump into the middle through the gap in the glass? Your other concerns I've been meaning to fix (you can read my previous responses to them in previous comments). For the final step, put a portal next to each of the buttons connected to the sphere dropper.
Slimpack 10 Mar, 2013 @ 12:12am
wow this puzzle was huge. Some of the puzzles were pretty clever and I like the idea of solving 3 interconnected puzzles that you have to solve over again in different ways. There are some parts I found frustrating though. There's the annoying jump across the acid pit in the second puzzle. In the third puzzle I had no idea at first that solving it opens both the doors connected to it. a sign or indicator there would help. also at the final part of the puzzle I had no idea how to go about solving it. I think the player needs more direction at that point because your goal isn't clear.

Also I found the room with the turrets but couldn't figure out how to kill them. ah well...
Spacesuit Spiff  [author] 3 Mar, 2013 @ 3:05pm
oh certainly. I won't be able to for a while, but it'll happen
Rei 3 Mar, 2013 @ 1:41pm
Yes I had much, thank you! And I hope, you have fun in one of mine, maybe " Back from Infinity ", for #F4F
Spacesuit Spiff  [author] 3 Mar, 2013 @ 12:28pm
thanks for that, I'd forgotten it was possible to get the cube off room 1's piston platform without pressing the button. glad you had fun :)
Rei 2 Mar, 2013 @ 8:01pm
Oh ... did so much - barely remember everything:
In final round#3 I left one portal in room1, took bridge then through portal back to room1. Bridging to where I took lasercube on elevated platform, then with second cube (from 3rd room) through room2 into room3. With them I bridged (45°) lasercube to laser and therefore kept the middle door open and was able to get second companion, that helped me to hold open the middle two doors, so that I was able to go back from round#2.
[For that room2(#2) I only needed funnel and tilted platform, to reach into the middle area and to lift the left cube (from round#1) up under the bridge with the funnel.]
From bridge jumping onto piston and forward exit with companion.
Bridge zigzag until over goo, then spoilerpic (see link below).
Found anything unintended? I'm curious. Hope, was counting rounds correctly afterwards - it really was a great odyssey, hard to keep every detail in mind!
cya
Spacesuit Spiff  [author] 2 Mar, 2013 @ 5:02pm
I'm curious what exploit you found then. mind briefly describing your process of getting the portals on either end? did it involve use of the light bridge in room 1? as for the turrets, in round 3 the stairs to get in retract, requiring use of the funnel, which is only possible in round 3. I'm considering having 3 stages to the easter egg instead, so if I do that I'll put in some indicators.
Rei 2 Mar, 2013 @ 7:59am
Okay ... well, I did use the faith plate once, but only for room 3 - not for room 2. But, I'm GLaD enough, I made it through.
I didn't get the idea to touch the glass again in round 3. I think it was round 2 I found them, but as nothing happened, I forgot about them. And without any further indicator, I didn't believe that it will work, anyway. Why only in round 3 anyway?
Spacesuit Spiff  [author] 2 Mar, 2013 @ 6:55am
Glad you enjoyed it :) to kill the turrets, return during Round 3 and 'touch the glass'. I may eventually update this to have a third step. For the middle chamber, the bullseyes on the walls show where youll land using different momentum; the one near the bridge is obvious and the other is where you hit if you launch yourself out of the faith plate (which is part of the intended solution for Round 3). The laserfield over the bridge fixes exploits, although I plan to change it to a fizzler.
Rei 2 Mar, 2013 @ 6:02am
I have a déjà vú: I believe, I've been gone through this all once before!
The last chamber exit feels mirrored and some stuff changed. It also feels, as some puzzle elements have become easier than in the earlier version. Thank you for that ;)
I like much, how some parts of the map look old and rusty now. Also, I've approached the turrets but neither did I find out, how to squeeze them.
In the middle chamber, I couldn't find out again, what the laser barrier and the other two target marks shall tell me.
All in all, a very good job - I have to fave it!!!
@buff00n: how to cross the start & end rooms in three seconds? I found it obvious from the beginning, what to archieve: see my spoilerpic and don't give up!
mood3rd 20 Feb, 2013 @ 6:09am
thankyou
Spacesuit Spiff  [author] 19 Feb, 2013 @ 1:07pm
Hiding things? That is a good idea. Would be pretty easy too. I'll look into it. As for 3ii, you use the same method to open both doors, so put a laser in the catcher just like you did the first time you were in that room. You can do this while standing on the piston platforms, assuming you have a cube in the button
mood3rd 19 Feb, 2013 @ 12:23pm
good up to getting stuck.
potentialy a spoiler screenshot:
http://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=128315826
I put the sphere on the button, which destroyed it.
the only way to go from there, seemed to be back to the previous chamber.
going into it, the 2 platforms were up.
I got onto 1, as in screenshot.
then jumped to go to door, which takes me back further.
but the door was closed.
could not find any clear dirrection, at this point.
did not find out what to do, let alone, figure out how to do it.

up to the point of being stuck, it was good.
though some items in chambers not used, was not good.
but I suspect that they would be used on the return journey.
I think it would be good to hide them, untill then.
of course, your map, your choice.
Spacesuit Spiff  [author] 19 Feb, 2013 @ 10:06am
Put a portal next to each button, that's the solution to round 3. As for that jump, it's not intended but doesn't really matter in the long run as far as I can tell, except maybe for the 5 cubes challenge. Glad you're having fun :)
buff00n 18 Feb, 2013 @ 8:17pm
Very cool map, how the same chambers are reused differently over and over again. However, round 3 has defeated me for now. I can kind of see different pieces of it, but I've been going back to the same quicksave for a while now with no progress. I am getting very good at going back and forth but I can't do it in three seconds yet.

I've also gotten adept at jumping across the goo pit in the middle room without the helping platform that comes up. I'm not sure if that's allowed or not.
Spacesuit Spiff  [author] 8 Feb, 2013 @ 4:40pm
There is no 3 button, just the 2 buttons connected to the sphere dropper. I put little numbers on nearly everything that changes, but I agree this stuff could've been clearer had I actually found a way to show stuff changing. Thanks for playing
KennKong 8 Feb, 2013 @ 3:10pm
I got through this, but I couldn't tell you how, because I don't know. Was that there before, or was it something I did that made it appear? I have no idea. I found the turrets, but I didn't figure out a way to dispatch them. After I finished the map, I realized I had never pushed the 3 button. This was just too frustrating to be any fun after the first lap.
Spacesuit Spiff  [author] 1 Feb, 2013 @ 9:36pm
Thanks for the feedback everyone. Meatbag, nice job figuring out how to skip the faith plate on both rounds (but you would've had to use it in r3). Matt, I really doubt you'll throw away more time into this, but here's a hint for everyone: there's only one reason it's hard to do the 5 cubes challenge, and it's only only possible to avoid this once you've done everything else. Btw, anyone know why the rating disappeared?
Jade BGE 1 Feb, 2013 @ 2:16pm
Started and really enjoyed for the first two back and forth trips through, and after that it was too much of a good thing and got frustrating (especially the 2 lazer room). And at the end could not figure out how to keep one protal in the 2 cube holder room without loosing it. I gave up. Nice puzzles though I liked that. Great work I know you put much effort into it, this eval was my initial impressions. Thanks for your work.
MeatBag 31 Jan, 2013 @ 3:05am
Didn't used faith plate, stuck at bridge part, gave up, dropped...
Hln 30 Jan, 2013 @ 3:21am
Yeah, I think this time I have finished the whole map, nice fixing, but I still can't find out how to take all 5 cube to the end lol
Anyway, this map is so cool and I like it a lot : D
Spacesuit Spiff  [author] 27 Jan, 2013 @ 11:51am
You jumped on top of that block? Oh, that made my day. Thanks for finding that, and another exploit that I've fixed (if you decide to play it again, I recommend noclipping to press the buttons and put the cubes where they're supposed to be; I didn't change anything in the first two rounds and I imagine they get tedious)
Hln 27 Jan, 2013 @ 10:28am
I thought that was the way to get all 5 lol
Anyway, http://www.twitch.tv/matthewhln/c/1872043 (It is 1.2.2, new version)
Getting Companion at 5:50, Getting Bridge at 8:05
Spacesuit Spiff  [author] 27 Jan, 2013 @ 10:02am
Fixed an exploit in the tunnel, which I'm assuming is how you avoided the CC... will mess around a bit later to see if I'm missing something obvious
Spacesuit Spiff  [author] 27 Jan, 2013 @ 8:41am
Ok, how did you avoid it this time? Yeah, that was intentional so that a) impossible to get stuck in 1iii and b) stop people cheating on the 5 cubes challenge. Can you explain how you got the bridge this time so that I know how to fix this?
Hln 27 Jan, 2013 @ 8:11am
Hey, I have try out the new map, nice update
btw, I still haven't use the second companion cube
And the button in iii chamber now will reset ALL CUBE at second attempt (after 2), is that on purpose?
