The marines need an objective beyond waiting to die and a reason to move around the map other than babblers. How about, the marines have to turn on the power in every room before the timelimit ends, in order to win. The power nodes build quickly, so this really just means they have to visit each room for a few seconds.

You know what would be Badass?

- Add Exos

- Let the Fade able to hack an exo every five minutes. The hack lasts for thirty seconds. When an Exo is hacked the fade disappears, The previous pilot is ejected, and the Exo is controlled by the fade. The Fade can kill marines aswell as other exos and when the fade is done with the exo it blows up.

- I know that that is going to be a scripting nightmare.

I loved this mod and thought it was very awesome. At one time there was a big number of marines playing it but there was only one fade, so it dragged the game out a bit.

As a player I would like to see some of the following things.

- random weapon/ammo drops at resource nodes, giving marines some incentive not to camp and keep moving
- more than one fade, or maybe have skulks that can evolve to fade once the main fade dies
- ability to create web maybe or to drop infestation, somewhere where fade can regenerate. One more incentive for marines not to sit and idle and actively try to find the fade.

Overall the mod is pretty awesome, i enjoyed it a lot.

ADD ONE TRAITOR FOR THE MARINES, ONE TRAITOR FOR EVERY 6 MARINES.

THE ALIEN CAN'T DAMAGE THEM AND THE MARINES CAN'T DAMAGE THE FADE. TRAITOR MARINES HAVE A DIFFERENT OUTLINE.

I played this game. It was kinda meh. What this REALLY needs is goals for the marines and fade. Ie, the marines have to go to a certain area and restore power. This could maybe increase the lighting or give some other benefit. Then we have to go to a "door control" and repair that node. This opens up a new area. In this new area, we have to repair another power node, which powers up an armory, giving us new weapons (instead of starting with them). etc etc Give us some objectives to accomplish so the marines aren't just running around aimlessly or defending 1 spot. Also, to help the fade as well as reward him for doing well, maybe everytime he kills someone he becomes stronger (gains hp, or gains more attack damage or speed etc). This gives the fade incentive to kill people. Maybe if he can pick off 3-4 people he can become strong enough to take on that pesky group of 5 marines clustered together.

a player controlled light exo with no weapons, like a mobile obseratory(in FOV of the exo) with weak flood lights, would be cool.

Any Chance this could be turned into the mod for Quake 2 called "Night Hunters"? It's the same concept but what happens is the map is in complete darkness and the fade would hunt the marines. The only way to score kills is as the fade. To become the fade you must kill the fade. It's such a fun and spooky game if played with no lights on. One of the funnest mods I had played in the past.

i played the mod the last 2 days and its really fun (if you have a good fade).
2 little things i noticed:
- 1 bug sometimes: the fade doesnt die
(the health decreases to maybe < 50 hp, but sometimes he doesnt take more damage)
- something needs to scale based on the number of marine players
(maybe the health of the fade or just maybe extra health for the fade each time a marine gets killed)

and again: 1 of the 2 best mods i have played so far for ns2.

Turn out the lights on the map and you will have one of the best mods for Quake 2, Night Hunters! Seriously it is so fun in the dark.:death:

When I try to load the mod on the server via start parameters (-mods 6ed01f8) without the ()s, I am getting "Error: Mod ' ' contains obsolete shader files and can't be mounted" and lists 4 shader.fx files. Trying the server out and it's just a normal NS2 server. Is it most likely because the mod isn't updated for the latest official patch?

Everyone has their own wishlist I'm sure you've heard it all .. but I'd love to make a suggestion ;)
imho playing marine can get a tad boring .. especially with 6+mariens .. you never get to play the fade as much .. could I suggest a possible change to test with?

Upgrade fades armour/health/attack slightly for each marine upto 5 .. then at 6 marines add a new fade and drop the fade back down to basic (for each extra fade.. make the fades *slightly* more opaque to help marines) .. configurable options (ratio/upgrade %/opaque % per new fade etc)

I'd think it'd make it more scalable ;) ... ie. people would stay in the game longer

i would enjoi a goal for marines, like get all the hives or walk down some waypoints... like in a race. but then it would allready bee the "faded race mod"^^. btw great mod i enjoi it a lot =)

Seems a little broken on the latest patch, unless it's just the server ive played on, but no HP scaling for the fade, taunts are marine taunts. Would be ncie to have an update ^^

I think the recent patch (252 and 523) might have broken the mod for now. I tried joining a game and everthing was quite back to normal (hive spawn, skulk spawn, etc.). I can not find a faded server anymore so i can't confirm it right now. Altough this might be a sign for itself. Correct me if I am wrong. I really like the mod (thx to the author you did a good job there) so it would be a shame if it vanished.....

i love this mod but i think you should make the hidden (faded) more invisible, with less health and stronger (more damage) that would make it so much better because now you are to visible, and you have to much health. if you change that the gameplay style will change as well . the hidden will need to use the environment much more and will become much more stealth. the marines will split up because they can kill him easier. i hope you will read this and consider it :p
