THANK YOU SO MUCH!
The Smoking Man 12 Mar, 2024 @ 9:56pm
I'd love to see this mod return in any form, honestly. No amount of time spent with the modern foraging system is going to make me like it, and I've given it a good long try. Even CDDA, a game increasingly designed to be tedious, doesn't make you go through this much tedium to search the bushes for a rock.
Killer Tamashi 13 Oct, 2023 @ 11:22am
@Esam would like something that would let me forage for everything everywhere all the time
ELTR101 9 Jun, 2023 @ 4:08pm
Does it add the older version of foraging?
Byro 23 Jan, 2023 @ 6:57pm
would be nice to the old school foraging system with less time spent doing it , fast but not OP fast thx for your time and effort
Esam  [author] 23 Jan, 2023 @ 3:16pm
Hey folks, unfortunately, the base game code that originally supported this mod is gone, so re-implementing it as it used to work would be a feat bigger than I am able to commit to. If I can track down the old source code I might be able to rig something up.

Otherwise, I might be able to rig something else up that would just let you forage for everything everywhere all the time. What are people's thoughts?

Knowing what I know now, I can't make any guarantees. But what would people specifically like to see out of this mod? I'd like to make it useful again.

And thanks @human bean (great name!) and @Byro for the support :)
Byro 9 Dec, 2022 @ 12:27am
that would be nice thx for that
JCGemX 8 Dec, 2022 @ 11:18pm
@Byro this mod was made before they changed how foraging worked, so it doesn't work now,

Hopefully this will come back somehow so we can choose to use the old system if we wanted to,

because there's some things the old version had that I prefer over the current foraging system.

It's all good! Life is much more important than these games, after all.
Esam  [author] 21 Nov, 2022 @ 3:06pm
Hey folks, sorry for the long hiatus. Life got a little crazy for awhile there.

I want to update this mod. I have to relearn how this whole setup worked so bear with me, but hopefully I'll have an update for you soon :)
Floof 13 Nov, 2022 @ 9:49am
Has this mod been discontinued?
PsychoTheRabbit 13 Oct, 2022 @ 9:53am
I miss this mod. So many vanilla or modded areas that theres no forage available.
Atom, He Who Seeks Nowhere 27 Apr, 2022 @ 5:55pm
It would be great if there was a mod to restore the old foraging system.
JCGemX 26 Jan, 2022 @ 2:35am
Does this re-enable the old forage system? If not, can you add that?
Blint 27 Aug, 2021 @ 6:15am

pgames-food 3 Jun, 2021 @ 12:51am
hi esam there was a sort of mod orphanage from gosh spiders no, but i think they picked up a lot of mods and didnt have much free time. (best wishes for future btw)
Esam  [author] 2 Jun, 2021 @ 12:05pm
Hi all, thanks for using this mod and for leaving feedback. I apologize for being unable to address it. Unfortunately due to too many dramatic life events in the last year, I am unable to keep up with this project.

I previously thought I had someone lined up to work on it, but that never went anywhere. If someone would like to take responsibility for maintenance of this project, I'd be happy to add someone as a creator. DM me if you're interested in updating and enhancing the mod! I might be able to play a secondary role and help out here and there.

Thanks!

(thanks dirmagnos for that info)
pgames-food 1 Jun, 2021 @ 7:20pm
oh sorry i must have missed this message @flareon my character usually moves around a lot (partly to me forgetting where my base is lol, so im always foraging at different locations and havent tried the same area, usually if it had been exausted, i just moved a bit to try again :)
Dirmagnos 31 May, 2021 @ 7:41am
Can forage on previously unforageable areas, unfortunately areas do not regenerate after that.
Killer Tamashi 2 Dec, 2020 @ 12:28pm
@pgames-food hey, if you completely empty a foraging area, does it refil?
pgames-food 10 Nov, 2020 @ 6:02pm
hi im not sure what the latest beta is, but in build 41.41 it seems to work great with hydrocraft here.
Pariah 10 Nov, 2020 @ 12:33pm
Seems the mod's Incompatible with Beta 41, an error code appears everytime you click on the ground, and also with Hydrocraft 41, the Remove Book Cover doesn't work with this mod. Which happens to every mod that hasn't been updated for the latest 41 Build.
Killer Tamashi 3 Oct, 2020 @ 5:11pm
is the completely-empty forage thing still a problem?
TurtleShroom 16 Aug, 2020 @ 7:20pm
Does this Mod still work on Build Forty-One?
Par9000 16 Jul, 2020 @ 10:03am
Jeez thanks a lot! This mod is a bit a huge fix for PZ for one reason: what is the point when IRL you are able to find a rock almostly everywhere where the lawn is located while in PZ you are to get into the deeps of the forest to get a frikin r0ck!1!1
Srsly, big shame PZ devs.
Pervy Sage 15 Jul, 2020 @ 4:56pm
Thank you Esam!
Esam  [author] 15 Jul, 2020 @ 3:50pm
I have a deadline coming up at work and it's been a couple years since I've looked at the code, but I'll try to make time to fix it up soon @Red Eagle Of Night and @Pervy Sage. Thanks for reporting the issue!
Par9000 15 Jul, 2020 @ 4:35am
Maybe there could be a fix for an issue described lower? Please? :D
Pervy Sage 28 Jun, 2020 @ 1:12am
@Esam The mod is even working for Build 41 but now if you ever completely empty an area of the items you can never forage there again. As long as you don't completely empty an area and go back some time later (at least a day) when you gather something it'll reset the forage bar.

For those wondering, this mod works with the IWBUMS Build 41
Esam  [author] 4 Aug, 2019 @ 6:12pm
@Sleepy Bella and @Lvl. 50 Boss, thank you guys for the feedback! I'm glad to have been able to help.
☥⛧mazi morbid⛧☥ 28 Jul, 2019 @ 3:21am
Thank you so much, now I can actually rummage around the massive forest I've chosen to build in
Sleepy Bella 24 Jul, 2019 @ 1:59pm
This mod saved my playthrough. I finally got a good truck and the neccesary supplies for a tent and campfire and was really excited to try surviving in the wilderness when I realized that my nice zombie-free spot by the lake was for some reason unforagable despite being in the deep woods with trees everywhere. Now I can actually play that save again. Thank!
Pervy Sage 4 Jul, 2019 @ 11:17pm
@Esam, thank you for all the work. Real life is more important, so whenever is fine.
Esam  [author] 4 Jul, 2019 @ 8:09am
@Pervy Sage gotcha. I'll see what I can do once I get my life set back up again. I'd love to work on this more. I'll see what I can do about showing the remaining harvestable resources in the UI. There has to be a fairly easy way to do that, I just didn't get that far :)
Pervy Sage 1 Jul, 2019 @ 3:49pm
@Esam, Thank you for responding. About the infinite resources, I must have just read it incorrectly, something being finite is fine I don't mine moving to harvest more like how the vanilla intended. It's just the % remaining is the big thing. It's not really knowing how much is left it's knowing where one zone starts and the other one ends. Currently you have to move and trying to forage a few times to know if you're in a new spot. It's just easier than using coordinates to tell.
Esam  [author] 29 Jun, 2019 @ 12:30pm
@Pervy Sage, I'm in the middle of some big life changes and moving at the moment. Once I get settled in and have the time, I'd love to revisit this mod and see if I could add more UI feedback to what is happening. This mod is not intended to make zones yield infinite resources, so I have no plans to implement that part. But I'll see what I can do about the rest! :)
Pervy Sage 18 Jun, 2019 @ 9:56am
@Esam I've played with it for a bit and it seems like forage from the mod still depletes and area but we can't see the % of stuff that's left. Would it be possible to show this? I went to an area that allowed foraging and used the "forage" from this mod and it depleted the vanilla forage. Also it seems to have stopped getting items after a certain number in an area was foraged.
pgames-food 23 Feb, 2019 @ 9:28pm
in case it helps for future, there was a DPS show damage mod i think by nolan which used to work that way (but when i tried the mod again with the newer version of the game, it caused errors on the log and didnt show damage, but might might just be a spelling typo that crept in or something)
pgames-food 23 Feb, 2019 @ 9:27pm
ok cool, thanks for thinking about it :)
Esam  [author] 23 Feb, 2019 @ 8:35pm
@Tsilliev & @pgames-food,

Sorry for the delayed response!

That is something I would actually love to add, but it'd take a lot of time. If I have the time someday I'll consider adding that, but can't plan on it anytime soon. This mod works by calling the existing game code in a slightly different order with a modified zone class. If I get some time I'll look into it because that'd be sweet!
pgames-food 23 Feb, 2019 @ 6:13pm
hi, just to add to what tsilliev said.. if there is also an option to have what is foraged, actually simply appear on the ground next to us, (instead of going into the inventory), i think it will be really cool :lunar2019piginablanket:

for example, many times with hydrocraft, theres tons of stuff to find, but no easy way to see what was found, so having some sort of text (maybe like the player speaking out loud what they found as local chat maybe, or dropping on the floor where we foraged, would help, and we can simply see a much smaller list of items on the floor (loot window), instead of trying to scroll through hundreds of tiny items on the main inventory screen trying to see what we just found :)
Tsvetomir 31 Dec, 2018 @ 10:27am
Is there possibility for the foraged item's text to appear above the head of the character, so we know what we foraged? I find it odd that this functionality is not included in the base game.
Its like grabbing things from the ground in real life without looking and putting poo in your pockets without knowing lol
Tsvetomir 31 Dec, 2018 @ 10:23am
Thank you!
EPOC16 8 Jul, 2018 @ 12:26pm
We are looking at either creating a side version of this mod, with this version set as needed as well, or to ask the zone be changed from deep forest. This is causing an issue in our server at least of massive hoarding of items at a VERY fast rate. Deep forest just has so much loot in it. If you dont want to make the other version with a lesser area, do you know where I can find the reference names for the other zones?
