Robert I think it has something to do with the aoe2 updates. Look at the comments below they suggest how to fix it.

The Iron bank is in a newer version updated by locodon, he has the torch and is leading the unofficial updates at the moment. Sadly we don't have a page for it since loco didn't open one yet.
Most of the players in the group should have it, so all you have to do to get the newer map is join a game hosted by them.
The newer map by loco has more events in and around the map. I haven't checked the balance myself but people generally like it.
One day i'll have a look at his version, maybe change some stuff, and make it official if he agrees to it.

This is a known issue. Create another scenario with eight ais without custom names, and run it in Singleplayer.This should fix your problem :)

I've played this, but when I try and play a different game (Regicide, DM, RM etc), Red is still Westerlands, Green is still The Reach and so on, whatever civilization or whatever game I play. I've even tried unsubscribing but that doesn't solve the problem. How do I get the original names back on the civilizations?
