Nice idea. Does not seem to work with LWOTC though.

The really cool thing about this mod is that after you get through the first mission, to the point where you get on the Avenger base, you can customize this SPARK, save him to your character pool, and then when you restart from the beginning with a SPARK, it will be the one you saved into the pool.

Useful for if custom create a Lily Shen and ROV-R combo!

it will show up in the lost and abandoned mission if it is not the one that shows on the left of the 2 so in the first two person team the 2nd soldier and the other part not tested but i think its the same as for not fitting in to the Lost towers mission cannon wise it does if you have it set as having been sent to central for the commander and to prove he was on his way to making the newer mec design work without the need to use human soldiers as a base this is how i had it set or if using mods that bring in other factions as playable have it within your games cannon as being brought by them or having been found and repaired by them before joining xcom

Tested along with a few overhauls (CI, Musashi, Arsenal). Fortunately no issues so far - did not experience the insta-fail reported by VoidLight during the Gate Crasher substitute introduced by CI. Thanks for making it, Zamster!

oddly enough this mod is incompatible with SPARK Arsenal. Will cause you to skip and instantly fail the first opening mission.

This mod should be adding SPARKs' conventional weapons - Heavy Autocannon and BIT - into HQ inventory.

If anyone is curious, this mod is semi-compatible with LWOTC. The Spark won't be added to your squad for Gatecrasher, but it will be in your barracks once you get to the Avenger.

@Ishimura, just starting with a faction isn't what I want to do. I'd like to know if it possible to start with another class, such as MEC Troopers or a default class.

@Valvatorez, just disable Lost and Abadoned quest when you starting a new game, you can choose with which faciton to start.

how does this work with quicker start, which skips gatecrasher? is there a version of this that just adds 1 spark too the roster after the mission?

The first time I started a campaign with this, Gatecrasher spawned with just the spark and no other soldiers.
If this happens, simply create a new campaign.
Also, if you are using the LW MECs as Sparks mod, you will start out with a 'rookie' spark. No skills (not even fire/poison immunity, this is a bug) and no rocket. But it will promote.

When I tried this with 'random characters' soldier selection the gatecrasher mission only had the spark (which was hilarious because he beat the ever loving snot out of the entire mission all by himself.)

When I go 'character pool only' it runs the spark plus two of my character pool and one random even though I had four in my character pool. A little strange but it seems to work fine otherwise.

My (only slightly modded) game went fine. Started with two Rooks, a Skirmisher (I specified), and a randomized Spark. Also, tested Shen's mission; it work's just fine. Both Sparks can enter gas safely and afterwards you keep both Sparks.

You should have 3 soldiers + 1 spark, or alternatively 2 soldiers + 1 hero soldier + 1 spark
Depending on what boxes you had marked or not when starting the game

@Zamster wait, in the first mission gatecrasher , is it normal that i just have the spark or im suppose to have 3 more rookies? (maybe its a mod that fuck it up, i have another mod that change the spark a bit )

@Smokinginabong: Nothing that rings a bell, I can use the spark in all successive missions after Gatecrasher without problem.

@One Eyed Jack: Not right now unfortunately, its hard coded to only add a single SPARK.

Rather than have a SPARK in the 1st mission Gatecrasher, would it be possible instead to just have a SPARK (or a configurable number) as part of the starting roster on the ship? Not sure how easy that would be, or if there's an .ini edit that can already be done for that without a mod?

@RoughtWaves: I have tested new game with the 5 first missions: intro, op, council, retaliation, op. Haven't experienced any crashes and played with 43 mods. Are you still having the problem?

@Zamster i think @Naqel had a great suggestion. personally this is one of my favorite mods, because it takes so long to get a spark. i think a starting alien and or starting psi op that levels like a normal soldier would be awesome. Assuming you get time to make something like that, i know it would be much appreciated.

Sorry, I haven't had the time to look into it fully, but it did work after the patch and nothing should have changed. Either you can try or you will need to wait a ~2 weeks more since I am on a vacation.

@Naqel, yeah have thought about it, not a super priority but will see if I can get the time for it.

The mod worked, absolutely loved playing the first mission with a single spark.However, starting with the first retaliation, bringing a spark into a mission causes a CTD right when you're about to take control of the squad. Even disabling all mods, the game still crashes if, and only if, you bring in the Spark.
