These settings work well with Medieval Total War 2 as well!
Mentos 23 Jun, 2022 @ 8:48pm
What does the mod actually do? It didn't seem to add a preset for reshade to use or anything.

Dear anyone attempting this in 2021: Make sure to download Reshade version 3.0.8 (as listed above) and NOT THE CURRENT VERSION

The current version doesn't have the SweetFx effects, so you won't be able to use the above settings. I went on a 2-hour wild goose chase before figuring that one out.

I followed all install instructions, made sure NET and C++ are up to date but all I get once Reshade is installed is a black screen where the ROME II screen should be. The only way out is to right click and force close non-responding program. Too bad, I use Mediator for Medieval II and it works great (but does the same thing as Reshade 4)

@franzlomonaco
First, ReShade it does not affect your game files it's only like an image filter
Than you just need to watch a ReShade tutorial
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yPOHYQ7xRLE

reshade.ini is just a default file, so nothing will happen until you start to change with your own values

You can copy for this mod description and paste it in your reshade.ini using a notepad

FPS impact depends on what you have enabled - if you just want to change colours/contrast then it can be single digits/below 5fps impact

if you want HDR, sharpen, other complex effects and FXAA then yeah it's going to add up

Update please! Thanks!

@PhantomTech4k
This cannot make a game crash no matter how you install it. If you install it wrong, then game will work but without ReShade on it.

DeathMan76561 21 Jul, 2018 @ 7:39am
same here my game keeps crashing when i install it to Rome2.exe,i followed the insturctions,any help
Kai d'Schild 9 Nov, 2017 @ 4:26am
I can't get the mod to work as the game crashed when I launch. Is there any possible solutions?
Meat Machine 7 Nov, 2017 @ 10:47am
what about performance impact?
kajak 13 Sep, 2017 @ 11:19am
I don't like FXAA and SMAA. Both make Text very ugly.
Enable Antialiasing in Gamesettings is much better.

@kekkuli
from http://guildwars2.rocks/sweetfx-gemfx-reshade/

SweetFX
PRO: Lots of presets to choose from
CON: Limited range of options

GemFX
PRO: Easiest to setup/tweak
CON: (Mildly) harder on performance

ReShade
PRO: Robust options range, still supported by developers.
most important for me: Tweaks can be done live in game.
CON: Takes some fiddling to get it to work.
Txarrak 12 Sep, 2017 @ 5:01am
wtf, to use this shit, i prefer to set up the contrast of the screen xD
kekkuli 12 Sep, 2017 @ 4:45am
I'm already using gemfx, how does this compare to it?
㋡ Peacediver ๏̯͡๏ 11 Sep, 2017 @ 5:17pm
@Nate When you get in the game press Shift + F2 it will open ReShade interface and you can change the value there
Nate 11 Sep, 2017 @ 3:22pm
I believe the language barrier is not helping, would be best if someone who speaks english and has more knowledge in this could write a more in depth tutorial on how to make the game look better.
Nate 11 Sep, 2017 @ 3:18pm
I just don't know where to change these values
Menumorut  [author] 11 Sep, 2017 @ 9:27am
@GoldHound96
tihs "mod" work with any kind of mods, all of them
MoreBeefThanBun 11 Sep, 2017 @ 1:49am
This should work with DEI, correct? I'm not aware of any graphic additions that come with DEI.
Black Soull 10 Sep, 2017 @ 11:08pm
Simple it's not important...who better...where better textures and low FPS downing=)
㋡ Peacediver ๏̯͡๏ 10 Sep, 2017 @ 8:31pm
This is neat. Really simple and more easy to use than GEM or Sweetfx
Black Soull 10 Sep, 2017 @ 1:15pm
Hm...who a better?=) ReShade or GEM?=)
Menumorut  [author] 10 Sep, 2017 @ 11:19am
@Nate
you don't need to subscribe to any of this mods, all you need is to download ReShade and use it!

in my tests I used Gerula Graphics Enhancement Mod therefore this settings above are for Gerula Graphics Enhancement Mod because I don't know how they work/look on vanilla.

@Black Soull
nope, this or GEM

*to subscribe this mod, only if you like to see, receive, more and new info about ReShade settings for this game
Nate 10 Sep, 2017 @ 8:54am
I subbed to the Gerula Graphics mod, if I subscribe to this one, are they compatible? meaning it won't erase the changes made with Gerula. Or is this mod like an addition to the Gerula mod, changing some of it's settings.
Black Soull 10 Sep, 2017 @ 2:28am
Work whit GEM?
Menumorut  [author] 9 Sep, 2017 @ 7:14pm
@Nate.
no, you don't have to and this is more like an announcement than a mod, an alternative to another mod that use SweetFx, but that mod switched to "patreon me" to be unlocked:steamfacepalm:

... plus, looks better with ReShade
Nate 9 Sep, 2017 @ 4:49pm
So I just need to subscribe to this mod to make the game look like the screenshots?
Thanks.
Menumorut  [author] 9 Sep, 2017 @ 12:15pm
@/SILENT/
even on my wooden PC I didn't feel any bad effects like dropping fps, so I guess not
yoummali 9 Sep, 2017 @ 10:54am
does this mod hamper your performance?
Menumorut  [author] 9 Sep, 2017 @ 2:55am
@kajak
Gerula Graphics Enhancement MOD it's optional, also it change the light in the game and therefore the result may be totally different without this mod.

Colourfulness is 0.200, but I use now 0.100
and lim_luma is at 0.600
kajak 9 Sep, 2017 @ 1:28am
Where exactly have do change the numbers of:
>>Colourfulness 0.200(*up) and 0.600(*above number aka lim_luma)

Like that?:
uniform float lim_luma <
ui_type = "drag";
ui_min = 0.200; ui_max = 0.600;
ui_tooltip = "Lower vals allow more change near clipping";
ui_step = 0.01;
> = 0.7;

When I download reshade manually and configure it like your description, for what is the subscription of your mod? What does your mod?
Menumorut  [author] 6 Sep, 2017 @ 4:10pm
A second set of settings
- Clarity
- Colourfulness 0.150(*up) and 0.600(*above number aka lim_luma)
- Curves (*replace Formula named Simplified Catmull -Rom (0.0.1.1) with SmoothStep and -260 for contrast
- FXAA
- HighPassSharpen Choose sharpradious(*first line) 2
- Levels 10(*up) / 255(*below number)
- LumaSharpen
- Vibrance 0.140 Vibrance
Olyrd 6 Sep, 2017 @ 3:54pm
Thanks Gerula !
