LW Classes or my own Chimera Classes will add rank 8 for you.
Alternatively, yes I guess you could do this yourself on vanilla classes. Navigate to
Steam\steamapps\common\XCOM 2\XCom2-WarOfTheChosen\XComGame\Config
Open DefaultClassData in notepad++ and paste the following string below the Colonel entry for each XclassType
https://pastebin.com/FxxQGDUN
Steam\steamapps\common\XCOM 2\XCom2-WarOfTheChosen\XComGame\Localization\INT
Ctrl+F to find the X2ExperienceConfig section.
If that still does not work then you definitely still have a mod or file overwriting vanilla.
This is really important when changing mods, especially before starting a new save. Follow XCOM Community Wiki Guidance .
Also, I tried starting a new campaign with just this mod running, and it still didn't show the revised ranks
If you have a class mod, check it's directory for a localisation file. Ctrl+F search for entries under X2SoldierClassTemplate.
- Changed the default ranks a little.
- Added Psi Operative ranks
- Added the code for Hero Classes (disabled by default)
-------------
1) Navigate to this mods install folder within your Steam directory:
Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\268500\1123970618\Localization
2) Open the XcomGame.int file in Microsoft Notepad.
3) Copy and paste the contents of this pastebin file directly below the existing Rank names: https://pastebin.com/TtdKWf97
4) Change the names as you wish!
The mod script will apply the change on load. Works with existing saves.
In the base game Long War 2 mod unlocked this rank for use. I do not believe there are any mods for WOTC which use it yet.
Yes! Every menu will reflect the new titles. e.g. Mission Reward will be 'Elite Grenadier Van Doorn'
Also have to admit that I love how on mods like this people say how they get triggered by the 'Squaddie' rank. Whilst not an actual rank it is what you would be referred to in the British Army, Royal Marines and SAS as an informal title for an enlisted soldier.
Mod updated with revised rank names and minor edits.
Apologies to anyone who already set their own custom ranks, you will need to change the .int file once more.
