Welp, considering that Redone Ship Encounters was later updated (2020) compared to this mod (2019), I'd say that it's preferable to always sub to the newest one. Although, the former mod have small additional features in play compared to the latter.

So either sub to Redone Ship Encounters that adds detailed descriptions AND a bit of features OR sub to Improved Ship Encounter Descripts that, well, just adds description.

In the defense of most creators, as long as they used JSON patches to create their mods, most will support 1.4 with no updates needed. To be honest, the only real reason mine are "updated" is because I promised back in 1.3.x that I'd categorize all of my mods when 1.4 dropped, which requires a "fake" update to register the categories.

That said, welcome back!... run while you still can.

Those mods do not break translations because the data they affect already has limited scope. When affecting any written out sections, such as full descriptions, codices, etc. there is NO way to prevent full replacement without completely re-coding how the game draws or populates the UI. There is no "insert word here" field for ship descriptions; there is a "description=" field that must be replaced in entirety to accompliish the minute changes made by this mod.

Again, this is a limitation of Starbound and its usage og JSON for data, not an issue with this mod, but it makes this an english mod. If these changes bother you, do not use this mod.

Well, who knows? For example, if you take into account modifications that display additional game information, then this task is well handled by such mods as: More Planet Info, Weapon Stats, Improved Food Descriptions, Crew member race/gender. Yes, they add new English words to the game, for which no translation is provided, but his conceived name and description remain intact in both the subject and the planet.

It is not "easier", it's the only way it can be done. This is a limitation of Starbound itself.

I agree, the replacement is easier than adding a new line under it. I will not argue, you are unlikely to have optimized. Nevertheless, it is not so extensive mod, the text of which you can get used to and remember how it was before that everything in its place

And to make those changes, the entire description needs to be internally replaced. That's the only way to accomplish these changes using JSON. There is no mistake, that's a limitation of the engine.

All I noticed from the mod is the addition of the name of the ship in the title and the first two words in the description. Second kills the rest of the translation of the contents of the text

Unfortunately, I only distribute through Steam Workshop and Nexus. Due to questionable actions on CF's part during beta, I will never support the official repository. Sorry.

And it should be client-side, so you should be fine on your server.

Just looked into the files. The only space stations in the game are the three trade stations and your personal space station. If what you describe come from the purple swirl "anomaly" icon, there is no way to differentiate them from other anomalies. If they are a space station icon, they come from a mod and are outside of the scope of this mod.

ALL anomalies use the single description. There is no way to differentiate. Bases, though, I cannot remember. If I have some time, I'll look into them.

Sorry to ask a questionb so similar to one asked before, but SOME of the anomalies AREN'T randomly generated, right? LIke, the protectorate base, the miniknog base and the USMC ships? Or are they simply segments OF randomly generated anomalies? Because a way to detect THOSE from orbit would be a f***ing godsend for me in my Parasprite grind.

I have never been able to tell what determines "client side" and "server side". That said, this SHOULD be client side. As to a non-Steam version, I was briefly updating my mods on Nexus, but have been having some issues there lately, and I refuse to host them elsewhere - especially the official Repository, due to a boycott since pre-release days. Sorry.

Nope. In terms of the descriptions, all anomalies call to a single JSON entry for description, no matter what endpoint they generate. It would require a total Lua rewrite, something I am personally unable, and unwilling, to do.

the actual end goals of the anomalies seem to be finite set pieces, rather than detecting biomes, would it be possible to detect which ending set piece the generator picks for the encounter? like the protectorate encounter thing? kind of like reading a seed? (i have no idea how it works, i hope i'm being helpful by offering ideas)
