Agree with you there, Bersaglieri. I just think Morthal would want to be a bit more self-sufficient with its own Smelter instead of importing ingots from some place else and having to pay full price including labour plus freight on top. That might be fine for a wealthy place like Solitude but those extra costs must be tough on a poorer community... so... today, I had a go at making a little mod for this purpose. It's called "Morthal Smelter".

It makes 100% sense that Morthal would be big on iron weapons. First of all it's the poorest hold in all of Skyrim. Second it's only source of export is lumber. Third the Blade of Hjaarlmarch is made of Iron (in vanillia). If anything the guards should be wielding iron weapons as well.

Considering the distance to other civilization and the lower local economy it seems logical he'd have his own Smelter...? Did I miss where that is located? I thought the spot against the rock wall behind the building might be a handy location.

yes, but they have a sawmill, and also it's a dangerous place, so a good backup of irons
should need...
