Personal shields now represent toughness; the ability to negate incoming damage through a combination of endurance and luck. Once fatigued, a character must rest to regain the ability.

Amplified ‘maximum comfortable temperature’ to depict the weatherworn denizens of a scorching wasteland.

Long-term chem use and radiation exposure can degenerate the brain: Holding a conversation and concentrating on complex tasks is sometimes difficult.

As 'Refining' research cannot be disabled, Refinersies are allowed. Chemfuel will have no function as of A16, but can be profitable.
