Update: 23 Apr @ 11:25am

Version 2.0:
Features:
  • Optimized the mod for repentogon.

  • A new bell machine will now spawn in sacrifice rooms.
  • Bombing when Salem hasn't spawned will spawn her and give you a reward.
  • Bombing when Salem has spawned will banish her for a little bit and sometimes spawn an item she turned into a silver trinket before.

  • Salem will now be temporarily banished when you defeat a final boss. (Must spawn a chest/trophy)

  • Updated the savedata system to be more consistent and performant.

  • You will now gain a mantle charge when getting hit by Salem. But once you get hit, it's lost forever.

  • Salem will now play a fire crackling sound whenever she's in the room.

  • After banishing Salem with a chaos card, the timer will now display "--:--" instead of a really high number.

  • After banishing Salem through any means, all fires in the floor will respawn instead of remaining as white fires, meaning you can re-loot them.

Settings:
  • Added a setting to make Salem faster the further away she is from the player (so she can catch up between rooms).

  • Added a mystery setting to the mod, enable at your own peril...

  • Added a setting to change how much extra time you get from bombing a bell.

  • Added a setting to only play the bell sound when Salem spawns.

  • Added a setting to increase Salem's timer each chapter.

Accessibility:
  • Added a setting to only cause screenshake on the final bell.

Bug Fixes:
  • Tainted Forgotten will now behave properly with Salem. (Salem touching the bones will not hurt you, touching the Soul will)

  • Tainted Forgotten will now properly collect Silver Trinkets.

  • Tainted Lazarus will now behave properly with Salem.

  • Fixed some accessibility settings not applying if you don't set them in the starting room.

  • Salem will no longer play the bell sounds after banishing her with a chaos card.

  • Fixed the Salem Timer color not being the same as regular hud elements.

  • Fixed the Cacophobia-Salem interaction.

  • Salem's timer icon will now disappear when salem spawns or when she's banished.

  • Fixed a bug that caused DSS Menu specific settings (like the key bind) to not save.

Version 1.1:
Salem:
- Fixed a bug in which she would spawn in Home.
- Fixed a bug in which she would spawn in the mines chase sequence, specifically if her timer ran out while you were inside.
- Fixed a minor bug with Salem's path-finding.
--- This didn't have any gameplay effects, it only clogged the console when changing rooms occasionally.

Settings:
- Curse of the Labyrinth Bonus: 0 to 2:00 (default 1:00).
--- When the floor has Curse of the Labyrinth, Salem will take extra time to spawn.
- Blue Womb Bonus: -4:00 to 2:00 (default 0:00).
--- When the player is in Blue Womb, Salem will take less/extra time to spawn.
--- This setting is designed with the intention of offsetting the extra time given by Fiend Folio, we think as of right now, blue womb is a little bit easier than intended. However, the option to increase the timer is there, in case players have mods that make Hush harder, it is not recommended to increase the blue womb timer otherwise.

Added new Accessibility settings:
- Salem Timer: Allows you to see a physical timer for when Salem will spawn at the top of the screen (constant-hold tab-off).
--- You are intended to gauge how close Salem is to spawning by paying attention to the bells in the background, and having a good internal clock, this setting is for people who may have trouble listening to the bells. Having a physical timer may take away from the experience.
- Bell Screenshake: Allows you to disable the screenshake from the bells ringing.
- Bell Sounds: Allows you to disable the sounds from the bells (on-only salem spawn-off).
--- Some people have expressed discomfort after hearing the bells ringing for extended playthroughs, so this might help with that.

Update: 1 Nov, 2023 @ 2:10pm

Version 1.01 (hotfix):
- Set Salem's HP to 0 via the XML
--- This only seemed to caused an issue with the It Lives fight on Reworked Foes, and not anything else on that mod, or any other popular mod in the workshop, which has also been addressed on their end, nevertheless, better safe than sorry.
--- I remember there was a reason why I *didn't* set the HP to 0 when I first made the mod, but I have since forgotten the reason, hopefully it doesn't break anything, since this patch is untested. Have fun!
