UPDATE 5: DIRTY WORK

The plague now works on air and physical sources:

Air sources include spreading from entities being too close and can be prevented by the blighted beak, scented sticks, and blight catcher;

Physical sources include picking plague globules, being splashed with extract, and being bitten/scratched by plagued monsters

*Being hit by infected monsters now spreads the plague. This was to add more risk when purposefully infecting bosses for an easier kill as well as to address the "I have a mask I'm immune" issue

*Blight Catcher and Blighted Beak no longer protect against thrown extracts as they're now a physical source of plague

*Added scented sticks for more convenient early-game protection against plagued air, particularly in co-op

*Added the Sanitation Apron for defence against physical sources of the plague

Lureplants, eyeplants, and birchnutters are no longer plagueable. Because they're plants.

Update: 3 May, 2020 @ 5:37am

*Lowered range creatures can infect each other

*Raised chances of plants being infected

*Ghosts can no longer catch the plague

*Tentacles can no longer catch the plague
