As a "part 2" of the immunity update, Blighted Beak and Sanitation Apron no longer fully protect against the plague and will now simply reduce its impact on your immunity

IMMUNITY 2.0


Immunity was originally supposed to JUST be a small buffer to prevent being immediately infected on spawning or curing. Then eating mushrooms to regain it was added as an easter egg. Then it was made a major tool for Wade specifically. Still, understandably, it's been treated as a major way to fend off the plague which was vague, clunky, and unfun. Because it was.

So here's the rework:
While only Wade can see his exact immunity, all characters will notice their health gauge becoming dirtier as their immunity is drained. It's up to you to decide if it's worth lingering near an infection zone with the limited information you have. Importantly, immunity is NOT intended to be a primary means of resistance (yet.)

Additionally, immunity will now automatically regenerate after roughly a minute without exposure to the plague. This time is sped up when in the radius of a blight catcher or scented sticks, and slowed when wet or cold.

Originally, since the mod wasn't balanced around immunity, infection was actually based on a coin flip: Everything had a CHANCE to infect with a roll in the player's favour, meaning 1 infected creature was unlikely to infect you with each additional nearby exponentially reducing your odds. Essentially, if you went it without gear you were relying on LUCK to protect you. With immunity as a staple, the plague will now be far more aggressive in trying to infect you. I'll be keeping a close eye on the balance but from testing it seemed quite fair on my end.

Other changes

Scratch and Squawk no longer have big black circles behind them
Scratch and Squawk can be electrocuted
Birds can no longer spawn plagued if they spawn too close to the player
Wade's Ravenous Rot Root now sucks faster and has new effects! Additionally, enemies affected by it CAN NOT spread the plague. This may change in the future, but for now it should be a tad more tempting
Wade loses more sanity from items on the floor. Items in stacks now drain half as much

Polish and Shine!
A little effort to add a little shine to the mod and smooth out those rough, moddy edges.

Wade Finalized
Ever since his conception I was never satisfied by blanket immunity. After countless brainstorms a solution was found!

Wade is able to see his current immunity, and will slowly regenerate it after avoiding exposure for long enough. Protection will prevent exposure as with every other character.

Raw meat and bites from BLIGHTED creatures will deal 5x immunity damage - essentially as he was before.


Furthermore his perfumes have seen some balance changes:

The rate of Sterile Solution's immunity regen was brought down from from 4 every 2 seconds to 4 every 10 seconds

His Iron Will Cologne has been given some flashy new FX and sounds. Taking fatal damage will instead deal that damage to your sanity, and now it must block damage to trigger the kill on end. No more spraying yourself or someone else who was at 1 health to insta-kill them.

Mushrooms!

Sickly Mushrooms are sprouting! A new resource to take over The "cure" for many recipes. The Good Doctor will require them for medicine, and they can be found either in the blight bogs or sprouting around totally healthy trees. They may also have beneficial effects for those reckless enough to eat them.

Other changes

*"Uppeth the dosage," the Good Doctor said. And so he did. All medicines are twice as potent - for better or worse.

*New effects added to players when the plague wears off/is cured to make it more obvious.

*The black spots that appear on player faces now correctly tilt with the face sprite, and no longer show over masks. Bless Klei for adding that functionality.

*Adjusted the order of things in the pathology tab to be less random

*Bosses take half damage from the plague

*Item skins now correctly show their icons when using Mods In Menu

The Sterile Solution will slowly generate immunity to any players/companions around the scented individual as well as decreasing the sanity loss from witnessing decay

The Iron Will Cologne will prevent death until it wears off... but make sure to heal before it does

The Pot Pie will lure pigmen, merms, and bunnymen to follow you

The Ravenous Rot Root will accelerate the plague in anything hit by it





Revamped the worldgen for the blighted bogs some

Increased the duration of the plague

The Blight Catcher and Scented Sticks now display a foggy ring to mark their areas of effect, and the fog becomes dimmer as their fuel runs low. This makes it much more easy to tell when to touch-up the catcher's fuel level!

Redone artwork for medicines using the new symbol tech. Labels and the likes! Neat.

Wade can now craft the Sudstick, a throwable item that can cleanse plagued bodies of water

Changes to the blight bog's generation, including custom gravestones, a revamp of the enclave setpiece, and more interesting terrain overall.

FIXES:

Made a whole bunch of stuff, including Bernie, no longer plagueable

Mod FX now work properly
