Battle of FATA

Description
[SP/COOP 1-20] Across the border in South Waziristan, Afghan National Army Commandos target Taliban cells in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas of Pakistan

As a traditional ALiVE Insurgency mission, the idea here is to replicate a long-term persistent campaign, going out on patrol, talking to the locals, clearing and holding towns, and destroying the enemy resources. For more insight on how to play, please read the how-to-play instructions in the mission briefing area. For a more in-depth analysis of what the bells and whistles of an ALiVE Insurgency entails, here is an excellent breakdown from the ALiVE wiki: http://alivemod.com/wiki/index.php/Insurgency

Although solo play is encouraged, the mission should ONLY BE run on a local hosted server. If you want to use a dedicated server, grab the PBO from the link below. Features include:

CAS and logistical support
The full suit of ALiVE features including suicide bombers, IED's and VBIED's
AI Recruitment
Helicopter and vehicle resupply triggers
Ambient civilian traffic
Multiple bases and outposts to choose from for respawn
Intelligence on dead bodies
Zeus Game Master for Admins

Saving your progress: This mission uses a local saving feature, which is accessed in the esc menu and initiated by the "server save and exit" function. To continue your save, simply act as if you're starting the mission for the first time and your data will load automatically. To start your progress over, change the PBO name or execute "call ALiVE_fnc_ProfileNameSpaceClear" and then click "local exec" in the debug console.

@Forest Beats I’m glad you like the mission.

I do not intend to make any big changes, but if something is broken and within my control to fix, I’ll push updates when needed and when time allows.

Feel free to grab the PBO below though and edit the mission any way you’d like.

@HeroesandvillainsOS will you by any chance be doing anymore updates on this mod i love this mod so much and knowing that there would be updates still going on it would be even cooler and better as i have a couple of ideas that would make it even more immersive.

@Vaulcan We’re having some discussions about what to do with these resupply choppers and I totally agree with you. One of the lead ALiVE Devs is spathetic to my complaints on this, and is slowly working on improvements (of course no promises!). I think the idea is to continue to reduce the number that come in. Currently they’ll come in pairs, and come in too close to one another, so it’s possible we’ll see this slowed down and reduced to one at a time (finger’s crossed). Sangin, and Lythium for that matter, will likely perform not too well in some places due to the map(s) itself, even on one of my buddy’s servers with his mission we drop into the 20’s at times but it’s certainly still enjoyable (I love Sangin!). My others are all pretty high performing for me though, but as time goes on if improvements can be made based on feedback I’m eager to do what I can so thanks for the feedback.

I dont think its PC performance as i could change view scaling up or down and the FPS didn really change
Vaulcan 9 Oct, 2017 @ 5:56pm
thank for that. yea i just ran sangin and it got bad but only when a load of choppers spawned killing each other in like doubles in the air. Cherus runs good though :) FPS is good but like i sayed there are time when so much is spawning it slows a lot.

@Vaulcan Ok I deleted a bunch of frivilous objects in and near the central British base, which although proably won't make a major difference, should probably help with performance in that general area. I'll keep an eye on it as I progress though the campaign, and if I notice anything, I'll make edits along the way, but like I said, it's been playing pretty well for me even before this update.

ah its no worries mate cheers :)

@Vaulcan Sorry you’re having issues man. All I can say is, if you’re playing in SP please don’t. This mission must be played on a local hosted MP server. For all intents and purposes you have a better rig than me (i7 6700k with a GTX 970). I don’t get it, I’m not seeing anything like this. Can it dip? Yes but 10 FPS no not at all. I’ll try to make my way to the map center to double check though and see if there’s anything I can do.
Vaulcan 9 Oct, 2017 @ 10:57am
yea ive a i7 4.0 with 980ti 32G RAM center map dropped to like 10FPS.
