Zendo 2.0

Description
The classic puzzle game of inductive logic is back, purer and clearer than ever! Beautiful crystalline pieces in three shapes and three colours are used to build structures marked by the Moderator according to a secret rule. The more structures are built, the more information players have to work with, and the closer they get to guessing the rule.

This Zendo game uses new objects to make koans with:
  • The Pyramid
  • The Block
  • The Wedge

* Uses various assets from Platypus' Zendo mod.

I've experimented with transparent pieces before and they just don't look good in-game. I think the transparency of the objects inside each other has issues with layering colours. This is why they're opaque.

On the topic of the rules for the Zendo game not being implemented into this, you can use the deck of cards on the table to emulate this. Red card = yes, black card = no.

I tend to play more of a freeform version of Zendo though, where the host makes up a rule, creates a passing and failing test, then everyone makes their own tests with the host evaluating each one as a pass or fail. This version is a lot more collaborative, fun, and freeform imo.

Oops, I just realized there's something much bigger missing - a way for players to secretly choose whether they think a given structure fits the rule or not, on a Quiz round, and simultaneously display it. (The rules described in the notebook are not the correct rules for Zendo. Among other things, there's no "unknown" state.) A hand containing a pair of cards for each player - identical backs, white or black front - is adequate - each player puts out a card face-down, and then everybody flips to reveal their guess.

This is great, thanks! Lots of Zendo mods try to use extra pyramid sizes, extra colors, styles, etc..., when - no, the base set has enough parameters to play with, thanks. Zendo 2.0 is more stackable, so thank you for building this version!

That said, the real set has one advantage: its pieces are translucent, so it's easier to see nested pieces. I've found that turning the alpha channel of the tint on pieces down does indeed create translucency; 40% seems to look best to me (which surprises me, I would expect it to look best somewhere above 50% but it didn't). I looked into the script for the spawners and my eyes kinda glazed over because I don't actually know Lua or TTS modding hooks, so could you tweak it so pieces are translucent, or at least so there's a translucency option so we can see details about stacked and nested pieces?

@stormcrow42 It's a quirk with TTS and a feature I've wanted them to implement for a while. I think if you set the custom model to dice it would work, though that presents its own problems.

You can hold Alt while rotating to rotate the piece on its side in case you didn't know. You can also use the Gizmo tool to move structures without messing with their rotation.

This may be a silly question, but how do you get a piece turned on it's side to stay. You can knock them over, but any attempt to move them seems to right them.

Haha I was talking about the material underneath the area where the supply of objects were but thanks for the tip.

@Markimus
Thanks for fixing this!

@PurplishSocks Fixed the URL for the felt texture, thanks.

@PurplishSocks Actually, the tile underneath the pieces is missing intentionally. In the board game the pieces are hollow and may be placed inside one another. In face rules can be made around this fact. "Yellow within a red" for example. It would be unwanted for him to change this.

Hi, I'm not sure if you can fix this but the asset for the tile underneath the pieces is missing. Thanks for making the only Zendo 2.0 mod on TTS!
