Star Wars Rancor Pit Destination

Description
This is the destination version of my Star Wars Rancor Pit.

It looks a little different from the other environment, as I'm working with a game engine now so I don't have to bake all the maps into one. By switching to the destination it supports the new version of Steam, and it will allow me to add some animated elements and maybe expand on a palacial level next...

I've spent about a day with the source engine, I've never used it before so please forgive any obvious why didn't you do X type things.

The best background to use is the no background option.

If you are using this destination please give me a thumbs up, so I know people are using it, and it will help me justify spending more time on it (basically I just want to gauge interest for expansion, or maybe just move on to a new thing)

Wow!! The Rancor getting animated would be cool. Please let us know when you are able to start working on it. :)

I can't test this right now, as I don't have the space for my vive yet (just moved), This sucks as I actually have an animation for the rancor now...

I cant seem to get this to work, background is set to nothing, and environment is set to this, but the only difference i can notice is that the play area turns from a solid rectangle into a frame of a rectangle, am I doing something wrong?

This is GREAT. Would be so cool to see a hint of Jabba and the bandstand through the gate on the top!

... cnt from bellow

At the end, add effects to try an give it some atmosphere and punch.

Most of my industry experience has been as a character artist, and I'm new to game environments like the ones I've been doing, and the biggest thing I've learnt is It's best to go into an environment with a clear project objective, and once your done move on to the next project. Keep that objective in mind and make sure what your doing is meeting that goal and not distracting from it. For instance, Bespin catwalk; my goal was about achieving a sense of scale and low poly modelling, I didn't spend much time on texturing, and I don't think anyone has noticed that the big bridges aren't textured, they're just lit, it didn't matter, no one cared.

Also know when to abandon your project, this scene took me a little over a month to do, all I see is what's wrong with it, but you must let it go sometime. Take what didn't work and fix it in your next project.

Hope my rambling helped :steamhappy:
