Serious Sam 2 Minigun

Description
Replaces the standard minigun with its Serious Sam 2 counterpart; this is a purely cosmetic change, no stats have been modified. Works for both HD and BFE, also affects the minigun turrets in the latter game. Enjoy!

For technical reasons, the screen & a gear on the left side of the weapon were removed from the BFE version.

Thanks to FrameRater for creating the transparent Serious Sam 2 logo used in the thumbnail.

For some reason, that muzzleflash file is gone. Uploaded the fix.

Hey there, I'm back again with another issue. Now, whenever I try to load up a map that has the Minigun, the game brings up the "Unable to load level message". This is what shows up in my console:

Content/SeriousSamHD/Levels/00_CWMSetup/03_BFESetup.wld: Content/SeriousSam3/Models/Weapons/Minigun/MinigunSS3_ForItem.mdl: Cannot open file Content/SeriousSam3/Models/Effects/MuzzleFlash/MiniGunMuzzleFlash_01.mdl

Please note that when this mod is disabled, the level starts with no errors.

Could you please take a look at it again? Thanks in advance.

Updated with fixed normal maps; thanks for reporting the issue!

Hi there! Could you please update the normal maps for this weapon? The game refuses to load any level because of the outdated normal maps.

Thanks in advance.

Great! The shininess isn't really an issue, I just noticed that it wasn't as shiny as in SS2, which actually doesn't matter too much, as I think SS2 almost exaggerated it a bit. Other than that it looks and functions just like it should, and even looks nice and has accurate reflection when you're standing in direct sunlight and shade.

Thanks for the feedback! There is a texturing issue affecting the ammobelt, I didn't notice it until now. I'll fix it and update the mod soon.
As for the shininess, I didn't make it *as* shiny as SS2, because HD & BFE have a more realistic style. I thought making it too specular might make it stand out in a bad way.

A bit of feedback on the model itself: it looks great overall, though the ammo belt looks a bit ugly with the red and yellow "wiring", whether that's intentional or not, or maybe it's not rendered correctly, I don't know. I think it would look better covered like it did in SS2. The model also doesn't look as shiny and polished as it was SS2, but maybe that's just me, or the game/engine's fault.
