The Aspectus - Patrol/Scout Craft (Small Ship Gone Wild)

Description
The Aspectus is Magnitude and Direction’s (MAD) answer to the war effort’s need for a fast and dependable long range patrol/scout vessel. It is best known for its ability to travel deep into space on extended missions to gather intelligence on enemy activity.

The Aspectus features:
- Full living quarters for three crew members
- Powerful thrusters and reactors for maximum acceleration and speed
- Long range Hyperdrive capabilities
- Shields for increased survivability under fire
- A computer core controlling engine cycles and managing vital systems
- Full ship atmosphere control
- A holding cell for captured prisoners
- Cargo hold accessible via interior
- Large cargo hold accessible via exterior connector
- Highly advanced cockpit with full size briefing screen
- Blast shield protection on cockpit glass for atmospheric entry or combat
- Three Gatling turrets for defence
- Surveillance cameras
- Advanced communication arrays

Whilst not designed for direct combat, The Aspectus can hold its own against small attack craft. It is, however, built to leverage its speed and shields to make an escape with minimal damage.

AUTHOR’S NOTE:

This is made out of small ship blocks, but contains a very large amount of them! A small ship gone wild, if you may. It may not be entirely playable on less powerful computers. Please take care not to crash it into anything at high speed, because it will likely crash Space Engineers with it! Also please take care when flying in atmosphere, as the effectiveness of the thrusters are reduced and it takes a lot longer for the thrusters to slow you down when falling.

To be able to fly the ship, you will need to properly start it up and engage the ship’s systems. You can do this by walking around the interior to access the systems themselves, or you can activate them from the pilot or co-pilot seats. The ship has a small amount of backup power for when the main reactors are not online, but the ship will not be able to fly on it. Please turn on the main reactors first (using physical buttons at the system or in the hotbar of the pilot seats) before you turn on the engines, hyperdrive and shields. Please shutdown the systems in reverse when you are finished with them.

This ship (and the moon base it is set in) took weeks of work to complete and I am very proud of it. If you would like to use it in a video, please credit this workshop page in your description, and shoot me a message so I can watch it in action!

P.S. I know there are a lot of mods, and I know people generally prefer vanilla ships, but I couldn’t achieve what I wanted to achieve on this ship without the mods.

KNOWN SOUND BUGs:
There are sometimes issues with the sound where the noises from the sound blocks on board the vessel get incredibly loud when in a depressurised area. I don’t know how to fix it and I don’t know why it doesn’t always happen. Sorry!

Another bug is that sometimes the blast doors will be incredibly loud when opening and closing. Again I don’t know why. Just be careful and be ready to take your headphones off :P

Finally, there is an issue where the radius of the sound blocks resets when loading into the world save. If you want added realism, just reset the radio sound block (find it in the control panel list) to around 7m – 12m so the sound falls off as you exit the cockpit. I would have loved for it to be setup and stay that way, but alas this game can be a buggy mess sometimes!
