The Village of Kythis

Description
This is my submission for the upcoming contest. I hope you guys enjoy it; feedback is welcomed and appreciated. :)

Synopsis

Born with the rare gift of being able to see Observers, mysterious beings who know everything that has happened, is happening, and might happen, your travels eventually take you to the small village of Kythis. You visit the graveyard every year, honoring the fallen from a mysterious tragedy that took place hundreds of years ago, from which the village is still recovering.

Speak to the Observers to learn more about the world, the village, and what exactly happened to Kythis all those years ago... and figure out how to stop it from happening again. Your travels will take you through the village of Kythis, all the way to a mysterious realm known only as the Abyss.

Will you be able to stop the destruction of the village in time?

********

Features quests, an interesting storyline, over twenty-five minutes of gameplay (depending on how much you explore), and the titular Observers, physical embodiments of philosophy and professional devil's advocates. Either untangle the web that is their musings, or ignore them altogether (and be unable to stop what's coming).

Also, interesting visuals and side-characters, whose pasts and futures you can learn about through the Observers.

This map is a healthy mix of combat and story, though leaning more towards the story side of things until the end.

I hope you guys enjoy it!

I just played through this, and wow.. what a great display of what this game can do. It was a very interesting adventure, and I loved the narrative.

loved the enviroment but for me it was pretty lackluster in combat and to much talky npcs

I have updates planned for this map, but I don't want to release them until the contest is over. Worried it'll disqualify my submission :P Thanks for your patience, everyone.

Just deleted comments that weren't about the map :P

The 25-minutes was me being a bit conservative, that's true. XD I just read really fast, and I know where everything is, so I'm sure my estimate is short. I'll up it to one-hour, approximately, but I'm not certain what would be accurate.

Thanks for the feedback, man, I sincerely appreciate it!

I enjoyed it for the most part. The whole terrain/landscape/town was amazing. The abyss was pretty damn cool too. I can tell you put lots of work into it.

No matter what I did I couldn't kill the final boss (the one with the sidekick and four treasure chests) in the Kythiss ruins after completing the abyss, and hopefully that was the end.

A little too much story for me. It seemed everyone had 5 questlogs of things to say, and most were just dialog, and no quest so after spending at least an hour (not sure where the 25 mins came from in the description) and that was skipping through most of the dialog. It seems I put a lot of work into the map playing it with little rewards.

Just deleted some of the semi-spoilery comments to avoid any issues with that ;)

Nah. You're fine. It's a good change of pace. I'm just c*** at combat so I die easily.
You've done a good piece of work. I'll undoubtedly play it again, see if I can't get a bit further :)

In game comments:-
Bear in mind that I didn't win any prizes in the last compo, so my preferences may not count for much ;-)
Personal preference: I like to place my 1st story giver facing the player when he spawns in. Saves them looking around, which if they don't may mean they miss important info.
Looking around I can see there's going to be lots of interaction, there's people moving about,
Gooooood mood setting.
Good use of scenery, props and colour
Good dialogue
There was some XP there that you could have quested and thus boosted.
Next level.
Sneaky trick.
I really don't like sneaky.
Game over.
