everything works fine with 2.2 it still says outdated in the lancher though

Depends on whether 2.2 that about to be released will work with mod "as is".
Many mods in workshop work fine even if launcher says it's outdated, after all.

Well, considering 1.9 was mostly bugfix patch, it should work fine.
