Description
Alexander Van der Bellen is the President of Austria


Mod supports English & German languages/Mod unterstatzt englische und deutsche Sprache.


A new nation, a new leader with tundra & snow tile bonuses, a unique unit, improvement & district. The Austrian people are blessed with creativity, intelligence and viticulture. Lead them to glory; build a great and powerful Empire to stand the test of time. Preserve the law, keep order and protect the people and they will follow you loyally.

Leader Trait: Kulturelles Erbe
Double Great-Person points for Musicians and Artists. Archaeological Museums hold 6 artifacts and the Palace has 5 great-work slots. A Relic is received upon discovery of a Natural Wonder.

Civic: Land der Berge
Each tundra and snowfield tile in a city radius yields +1 Gold, +1 Production when worked. May build the unique Ski Resort district on tundra or snow tiles. Can farm tundra with Civil Engineering.

Unique District: Ski Resort
A Neighbourhood styled district available after Flight is researched. +2 Food, +6 Housing, +4 Amenities. +1-3 Gold per adjacent mountain. May only be built on snow or tundra tiles, one per city.

Unique Improvement: Kaffee Garten
Grants +2 Gold, +2 Production and +1 Culture. May only be constructed by a Builder on non-hilled forest, near a river, and not adjacent to another Garten.

Unique Unit: Gebirgsjaeger
Austrian Mountain Troops - Modern Era melee unit, replaces Infantry - has +5 standard combat strength, +10 Combat Strength when fighting on Hills, and has +1 movement.

Rise and Fall and Gathering Storm DLC Compatible.

Has Yet not Another Maps Pack True Start Locations (YnAMP) - Vienna/Wien
Has 'Randomised Mediterranean Map' True Start Regions - Austria

'Wonder Tweaks' is a recommendation, not mandatory. But the game plays better with it.

Austrian Buildings Mod is a good companion for this mod also.

why did you use Van der Bellen? This is a history game and he is the current president.....would logve to use this mod but with Sisi or Franz? Empress and Emperor

My Civ VI runs on Windows with all DLC´s (except Vikings). Additional mods are Wondrous Wonders, YAMP, Real Building Upgrades and Steel & Thunder. The Byzantine mod works like a charm, Austria won´t start.

I need a little more info to try & replicate this, are you Mac or PC? what expansion packs are you using? Any other mods enabled?

I can´t manage to start a game with Austria but have no problems at all with the Byzantine mod, which works fine even with all the other essentiel mods activated.

I added a load order, so that the mod loads after the DLC, that could change the circumstances for other mods you had on previously. I have found Civ6 to be very difficult/unfriendly on inter mod-compatibility.

Thank you for the advice. Civ6 has the june-update and I have only a minimal set of mod´s activated. Van der Bellen worked well with these mods before the july-update (even under GS - strange???). I will try again with all mods deactivated.

You will need to check that your Civ6 is up-to-date or that you dont have another mod that is conflicting. I have tested this with no DLC, just R&F, just GS, & with GS & R&F, it starts in all circumstances.

After the recent (july-)update, I can´t start (newly created) games under Gathering Storm with van der Bellen (whom I like as a president and as a Civ-leader btw.) as leader. Thank you ADLER for this mod - could you please look into the recent update?

Thanks for that, this update sorts that issue plus adds some bonus GS features, units & buildings.
