MTF NEREID Frigate

Fast and agile attack and support vessel in a compact hull.

Frigate: Light all-around combat ship, smallest unit in battle formations, largest planetary capable spaceship.
-Roles-
Solo: Long range patrol, colonial defense, disruption of enemy shipping.
Fleet: Picket, goalkeeping, torpedo attack.
Planetside: Cruise missile attack, mobile C3 post.

The Nereid is now reclassified as a frigate. The original design evolved from a corvette hull conceived to match and counter squadrons of patrol craft and fighter wings. As trials on the prototype were underway it was made clear that the original specifications could not produce the desired performance in such a ship, so the size of the vessel had to be increased significantly and in this process the Nereid also gained in thrust and FTL capabilities.

Now, ready to enter service in the MTF, the vessel can operate within planetary gravity and could potentially be modified for space only use to increase performance and agility.

*Rechristened Nereid from Mako to keep with the MTF tradition of naming ships of this role after Nymphs.
