Zombie Survival

Description
You can set one of the AI as a zombie, and play a zombie survival scenario, waiting for the date when a random city collapses due to the zombie plague. You must then survive the onslaught as the zombies constantly replenish their numbers off of your land, your soldiers and your people.
Build fortifications, and block of large areas of the map to recuperate your loses and plan for the reconquest of the world.

Alternatively you could play as the zombie. You will wait as the world progresses around you, until you are thrust into the world through the infection of a random city. Then you must bite and claw your way through every one of the players, using their own weaponry against them, until you succeed in wiping out humanity.



Gameplay:

A date, not shown to the player, is chosen for the start of the zombie apocalypse.

Zombie AI kept dead until the predetermined date is reached. Human players are put into a deactivated state.

When the date is reached, a random city is chosen and deleted. It is replaced by a number of zombies equal to 1/3 of the population of said city.

Zombies are about as powerful as industrial era units, although significantly slower, whilst Fast Zombies move at a regular rate, but are only as powerful as renaissance units.

Zombies have promotions that allow them to heal each turn, and to pillage land for free, however their main advantage is infecting enemies.

When a zombie attacks another unit, if that unit is not in a fort or citadel, then it is replaced by three zombies.

If zombies attack a city, then the city is disbanded and replaced by a number of zombies equal to 1/3 of the population.


This generally results in an exponentially growing army, that is almost impossible to stop before the industrial era. Later on, with access to nukes, planes, artillery, tanks and bazookas, zombies become much easier to manage, allow still highly destructive.


To activate the features of this mod, you must set combat quick off (found in the pause menu), turn complete kills on (found in setup menu), and set either an ai, or yourself as a zombie.

The idea of the mod is good, but the implementation is just disgusting. Did you started playing? Great.Did you know that in order for zombie AI to work, you need to check box in the settings before the game starts? No? Start over. Did you save-loaded game before zombies appeared? What's a pity that this breaks the mod! Start over. Zombies appeared, but were beaten with sticks by aborigines? What a bad luck that you didn't read mod-description, which is why you didn't turn off the quick fight option, as a result of which zombies do not infect units and cities. Start over. Have you read the description yet? Well done.But, no one will tell you that same thing happens while you are playing in 2d mode instead of 3d...So, a lot of time was spent to figure out how to make mod work, and the desire to play with it was gone - disabled quick-battle option unrealistically stretches every turn, especially considering that the number of zombies is multiplying.Mod is 2.5/10, personal experience 0/10

Mod Works Great, Alot of you have issues with it, but I had one of my city's erupt on chieftain difficulty, I was over run had to retreat to another civ across the ocean and take theres. my city's pop didn't help because they were all 30s then when the ai got 10 extra unit they killed everything on the continent. I took over my half of the world and started using artillery and battleships and planes to retake the land that was infested.

I had a lot of fun with this mod for 2 years. Sadly for the past 3 it hasn't worked as well for some reason. Zombies used to be a terrifyingly fast and threatening force. Single zombie units knew to hit a city to create more and would bee-line for one, they don't anymore. Zombies now attempt to surround a city as if they're laying siege and it leads to their quick deaths in literally any era they spawn. Not a shit mod, pay no attention to the haters, just needs a revamp.

Wasted so much time on this. It takes forever to spawn in, and when you do it's nearly impossible to get any momentum going. Quite possibly the worst mod I've ever played. It was at least bad enough that I'm pretty sure this is the only time I've put in the effort to even draft a comment. Bad mod. Bad job.

Ai is sooo dumb....they dont even attack....I set diff to Deity and still nothing!!!

they doesn't attack City-States....they instantly make peace and war and then they don't attack...pls fix that...u just see City-State in middle of zombie hordes which is terrible....

Idk whats been going on, but zombies just aren't as aggressive as they used to be. They normally wait until they have a city completely surrounded instead of b-lining for the hit. This causes them to be killed off really easily by AI.
