Deep in the swamps dwells an ancient and formidable creature. Two mighty leaders have gathered in a bid to harness its power and forever settle their struggle for supremacy. Who will be the first to summon the Terrible Monster - and will it be enough to win the day?

Overview:

Terrible Monster is a micro card game for two people. Players fight each other using 20 cards with a variety of effects. A player can counter the opponent's card effects by using Counter Tokens. However, because the number of Counter Tokens is limited, you should use them carefully. Cast Spells, Summon monsters and find a way to defeat your enemy!

Play:

Each player tries to deal damage to their opponent in order to remove all of their Life Tokens. The player reducing their opponent's Life Tokens to zero is the winner and the game ends immediately.

On their first turn, the starting player plays up to 1 card. On following turns, the active player: draws 1 card from the deck and plays up to 2 cards.

When you play a card, the opponent may counter it, making it ineffective. If the card isn't countered, it becomes effective. Monster Cards are placed in front of you, remaining in play until someone (or something) destroys it. Spell Card effects are applied immediately, and moved to the discard pile.

Whenever you would have to draw a card, but the Draw Deck is empty, shuffle the Discard Pile to form a new Draw Deck.

Counter and Counter Break:

When any card is played, the opponent may counter it by spending 1 Counter Token. At this point, the original player may counter-the-counter by spending 2 Counter Tokens. Countered cards are moved to the discard pile without taking effect.

Hints and Clarifications:

There are 3 cards that deal damage, so it's important to use these cards effectively.

Cute Beast deals 1 damage at the beginning of your turn - every turn, whether you want it to attack or not!

Terrible Monster deals 4 damage at the beginning of your turn, winning the game. However, it cannot be played from your hand, and must be used in conjunction with another card (such as Summon or Metamorphosis).

The Ghostly Guardians redirect a source dealing 2 or less damage to the other player. They are completely ineffective against the Terrible Monster, which deals 4 damage.
