Description
EDIT NOTE: I've added a required item to this model. For some reason when it was uploaded a detail texture for the deployed shields did not go up with the model. In the index on the right, you'll find a link to the texture fix marked as a required item. If you find that your shields are pinkish and checkerboarded in colour when deployed, you need this fix. I know there are a few of you who have been waiting for me to release this model. Well after waiting for 2 months for a response from the original modeller who uploaded this to SketchFab and the license they released under I think I should be ok to release.

I found this excellent model on the net after someone had asked that there be one created for SFM. The original author posted his creation under a CC Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license.

So Keeping with the requirements of the license,

This model was uploaded to the web on Sketchfab in a blender formatted file 2 years ago by an author going by the name maycblender and it can found here https://sketchfab.com/models/6383e06620c1493f9202d3b1c8112c6e

The model was in general clay format without any type of armature.

What I have done to the model:

Adjusted mesh to fit the model better,
reformatted the UV maps to allow better painting,
added an armature (bones) to give it life.
I painted the model with 2 skins, to include wear and added bump maps to provide character.
I added shapekey flexes to retract and extract the eyes for rolling.
I added shields for both the deployed and the retracted which are deployable using Flex Sliders
I Created the following animations,
Idle,
deploy from rolling,
retract from standing to rolling,
rolling,
firing,
a squat and
a walk (which is a bit glitchy in SFM but provides a base for animating).

I have tried to contact the author for permission to use (visible in the discussion section of the download page listed above), however after waiting 2 months without a response and with the type of license they used on the website, I think I am able to release this. HOWEVER, because of the likeness to a well known object, if I am asked to remove the model by the author or the owners of the likeness I will comply immediately and without warning.

There, I think that meets the requirement of the license the model was released under.

Now, this model has around 114 bones for your animating pleasure and because most of them will fall into . There are 2 skins and 4 flexes.

For those that do not like Unknown bones, add the following to the sfm_defaultanimationgroups.txt file found in the SourceFilmmaker\game\platform\cfg folder just above the last closing curly bracket.

anyone have a tutorial for the sequences or good at writing instructions? I have been trying but cant get it to work as attended. Thank you! If I dont respond for a while then my apologies. I will try and check regularly.

I did. It was just under some really bright lights in my animation and it reflected them so much that it just looked white instead of the normal blue. I just had to dim the lights a little to account for it

It's all pretty good! Had some issues with the shield being extremely reflective, but other than that, it's a good model

Yeah, I did the roll which isn't too bad and tried to do the walk, but that didn't turn out as well as i hoped.

Thank fuck I came back to read this. I spent like, an hour animating a roll before I thought: "Shit, did they make a sequence for it?" Saved me so much time, thank you :WhiteWolfHappy:

this crashs sorce film maker for me just this model nothing else so idk I cant even load it without sfm crashing but any other model works just fine! just your droideka gives issues!
