Description

[Medium] Medium (hard?) puzzle around cleansing and repulsion gel and funnel.

No, I'm not a hypocrite. I didn't lie: I still hate gels. But I randomly got the "April Showers" song stuck in my head, then the idea of using the cleansing gel as the core of a puzzle came by. I broke this map a thousand times to get to this version, so I hope it's hard to do so anymore.

Update: Fixed a bunch of unintended solutions:
- Moved the exit area further away to prevent cube tossing;
- Removed accessible portalable surfaces in that same area to prevent shortcutting from the fizzler platform;
- Changed the floor in that area to glass to prevent early gel bumping;
- Moved the exit platform a block higher to reinforce the intended solution.
I just had to think "What would I do if I were LB?" to have all that :P

Update 2: Fixed unintended solution from respawning the cube.

Update 3: Fixed a bunch of Nock's unintended solutions.

I'm afraid I have to agree with Narkodes.
Placing blue gel in the distance was just frustratingly fiddly.
The upper area with the second cube is presented very poorly.

This map doesn't stand the test of time. The underlying puzzle was easy and entertaining, but the layout, execution difficulty etc. made it artificially difficult. However, thumbs up. It's interesting to see where you came from.

I enjoyed this puzzle, although the intended solution is much easier than what I put myself through. Had a hard time figuring out how to get the first cube into the second room, was able to get it to bounce into the funnel , but didn't think to send it to the cleansing gel. Funnel wasn't high enough to get into room. . Wound up putting a bunch of blue gel under the exit, and using it to bounce through a portal with the cube . The correct way is easier.

I tried playing this map a bit less than a year ago and couldn't solve it. Tried it again today and was surprised at how quickly I figured it out this time around. It's a bit fiddly and some of the design choices/aesthetics are really weird, but I quite liked the underlying puzzle. I was surprised that the cleansing gel was used only to clean a cube and not to wash off any other gel spots, but still, I really liked the use of both gels to transport the cube. Big thumbs up.

Interesting tedious map. Requires an exceptional dedication to figuring out the solution. When it stops being fun, then it is good to have a walkthrough. However the ones you provide are mostly from earlier versions of the map. VERY confusing! Sort of dilutes the fun.

...just been on your YouTube site and found “Playing my 2016 maps – Part 3/3” where this one starts at 37:06 – looks like I totally missed the main mechanism of the puzzle

...OK, your play-through is for an older version, so I’m not sure if this is your: intended solution ? The part I found tricky in the way I did it, was getting the piston platform to stop at, or very close to, its full height; which took me several attempts, not shown in the video. Anyway, great puzzle with some clever ideas.

Great puzzle, but the cleansing gel didn't really feature, so I wonder if I did it by the intended solution; time to find out...
