Western Auto Building

Description
Built originally for the Coca-Cola Company in 1914, the twelve-story mid-rise was designed by Arthur C. Tufts & Co. The triangular plot of land it was built upon gives the building a distinctive "pie-shape" appearance.

After it was sold to the Western Auto Company in 1951, a multistory light-up sign was installed that stands to this day. The sign can be seen from locations all over downtown Kansas City. It's visibility and history have made it a Kansas City Landmark.

After undergoing renovations, the building now houses loft condominiums which bear its name.

Surreal experience seeing this building my ENTIRE life almost daily and to see it made immortal in CS is insane to me.

I remember the sign from the may bus trips I took to and from Texas. Kansas City was a transfer stop for me. Now I know a little history on it.

Love this building. Only complaint - it can't be flipped to fit multiple together!

This building adds the perfect exclamation mark to my "reclaimed" industrial area. The nighttime illumination is beautiful and not carelessly overdone like some of the default unique buildings.

I that this sign is light back up in real life. It's so nice driving home in the evening after work and seeing the sign lit. Thank you for the KC assets!

I don't think you need to "be good enough" . . . the fact is that you're modelling on a level beyond people that might be interested. A bigger part, I think, is that the modelling isn't necessarily hard, but the conversion to Cities can be. . . finiky if you don't do it right. That, i think, would be much more worth such a lesson etc.

So there's plenty of places on the River Market area that'd be GREAT for a meetup.

This an awesome building. You really did this landmark proud. I can't wait to see more KC buildings!

@bryanespy: Thats an interesting proposition, right there. Currently, every asset I make is a learning process for me, maybe after I get a few more under my belt I'll consider myself good enough to teach :D If you're interested in getting started, this is the youtube series I followed to get my feet wet: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kCrigOoHlc8 Cheers!

@Lightfooted: Maybe a meet n greet is in order for KC peeps that want to learn how to model our city? We have some striking architecture that would work well in Cities.

WooHoo!!! I'm 12 miles from it! Really need Gates, Arthur Bryants BBQ and Truman Sports Complex.
