what other mods did you install around the same time?
did you verify your game cache?
did you check the mods download actually finished and all files were downloaded correctly?
there can always be circumstances that corrupt a download (connection failures for example).
also there can always be game files beeing corrupted in any way (for the same reasons), so verifying your game cache should always be your first try for a soltions as it actually checks all game files and restored them if needed.
this mod itself just contains some mp3 files and simply can't crash your game if all files are ok, and no other issues occur.
That would be a change in the game mechanic (obviously).
What this means is - this type of mod isn't officially supported since the AK release until the devs get some mp problems fixed. And what that means is - dat file mods have to be installed and maintained by the users manually and can't be used in mp unless all players use the same one.
That is also the reason why there are so few mods of this kind around anymore (beside the fact that every patch editing the dat file(s) is likely to break the mods compatability for now and needs the mod to be adjusted/redone).
All used tracks have to be named with ongoing numbers, and AoE just plays them in their numbered order.
So you can either replace the default file numbers - which like all soundtrack mods I know of do - or you can start your numbering at the end of the default numbers.
For the same reason you can't just mix different soundtrack mods unless their author(s) made the numbers to fit.
