Varkrey II

Description
An Update to the work in progress, this version being more fleshed out and almost finished. This ship is not yet complete however.

The original Varkrey was the toughest BUILDABLE unit in the game O-R-B Offworld Resource Base for both playable races. It packed 8 turreted Plasma beam cannons as it's offensive and defensive armament, covering nearly every angle of approach. A single volley from just one beam cannon was enough to reduce most fighters to slag. Two beams at once certainly would.

The Varkrey also brought along four docking bays which housed everything from Light scout fighters to Mining Freighters, Recon Vessels and Frigates and everything inbetween. The most fighters the Varkrey could service at the same time was 60, with 20 more specialized areas inside the hangars for freighters and other utility ships. This gave the beast the ability to dock and service up to 80 ships at once, never mind the heavy fighters deployed as an escort.

Being coated with Adamantium as an outer armor layer and an inner layer of Carbon-Titanium hull alloy, the Varkrey so outclassed it's predecessors that enemy heavy cruisers would flee from battle on sighting a Varkrey. This is failing to mention it's extrodinary shields which not only could eat anything thrown at it, but regenerate at such a fair pace it was suicide to attack a Varkrey without another close or equally powerful ship on your side.

The Varkrey was also capable of Hyperjump travel, allowing it to appear anywhere within reason in a relatively quick period of time. Everything within it's chasis was transported as well with no effect on the jump drive. With such rapid deployment, the Varkrey was the ship of choice for serious invasion.

Being capable of mass destruction by itself, it is only fitting that Kinetic Void dubs this ship a Dreadnaught class. While the docking bays may not be perfect in Kinetic Void, they do function, and as such the Varkrey packs a formidable swarm of fighter drones, and a few mining drones as a nod to it's tertiary role as a support vessel.

As this is a work in progress, the ship has holes in it and isn't quite up to snuff, despite standing tall against a Borg Cube also on the Workshop here, and coming out ontop. It may lack it's signature weapon, the Torpedo Probe (An unguided Antimatter area effect ballistic missle) but it makes up for this shortcoming with destructive Baluga Missile launchers at Tier 4 in every docking bay (to simulate launching a torpedo probe). While it is functional, it's a bit unpolished, so download only at your discression. I will repost this when the ship is finished.

Please note this is an attempt at accuracy, not an upgraded Varkrey. For this reason the ship does not have more weapon installations than in the original game.
